Patrol Leader

Reporting to a Duty Supervisor, the Patrol Leader patrols the Rose Hill campus and leads assigned guards in the execution of their duties to ensure the safety and security of the University community and surrounding areas. This position is scheduled for 12-hour tours.

Position Summary

Guides, trains, supports, and monitors guards’ performance at assigned posts.

Directs access-control activities performed at or on their assigned posts.

Organizes and sets priorities for guard staff assigned to special events on campus.

Patrols assigned areas on and off campus, driving an assigned University vehicle to prevent crime and assist students, faculty, and staff.

Essential Functions
Tests and inspects all fire alarm systems.

Directs traffic flow at University events as assigned by the tour Duty Supervisor.

Serves as first responder in emergencies.

Operates university vehicles in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and insurance requirements.

Additional Functions
Back-up coverage for the Base Supervisor at the Front Desk.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in law enforcement with a police agency, university police, or security department.

Current New York State Armed Guard License.

Valid New York State Driver’s License.

Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to respond calmly and efficiently to emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
