Benefits Data Analyst

Position Summary

The Benefits File Analyst is responsible for the administration, validation, troubleshooting, and monitoring of employer eligibility, enrollment, payroll, and demographic data files used within the proprietary benefits administration platforms.

This role serves as the primary point of contact for file processing and data quality issues, ensuring accurate and timely movement of employer data into benefits administration systems. The Benefits File Analyst investigates file errors, resolves discrepancies, performs root cause analysis, and works closely with Implementation, Client Services, Operations, and Technology teams to ensure successful file processing and enrollment accuracy.

This is a fully remote position requiring a highly organized, self-directed individual who can effectively manage multiple priorities while working independently in a virtual environment.

Essential Functions

Employer File Processing

Review, validate, and process employer eligibility, enrollment, payroll, and demographic files.
Monitor inbound and outbound file schedules and identify missing or delayed files.
Verify file formats, layouts, naming conventions, and required data elements.
Utilize file management and automation tools to process high volumes of employer files.

Data Analysis & Troubleshooting

Research and resolve file processing errors and exceptions.
Analyze data discrepancies and determine appropriate corrective action.
Investigate enrollment issues related to file inaccuracies.
Perform root cause analysis for recurring data and transmission problems.
Identify upstream and downstream impacts of file corrections.

Implementation Support

Support new client implementations and file conversions.
Assist with file mapping, testing, and validation activities.
Review employer file specifications and recommend improvements.
Participate in implementation meetings and virtual project teams.
Quality Assurance

Audit processed files to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
Validate successful imports into benefits administration systems.
Review exception reports and resolve processing fallout.
Maintain documentation related to file processing standards and procedures.
Process Improvement

Identify opportunities for automation and workflow improvements.
Assist in developing standardized file templates, naming conventions, and file management procedures.
Document best practices and support training initiatives.
Participate in continuous improvement efforts within Operations and Implementation teams.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

Associate degree or equivalent professional experience.
2+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
Benefits administration
Eligibility processing
Data processing
Payroll administration
EDI support
Benefits technology platforms
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
Experience working with large datasets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines in a remote work setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.
Experience with benefits administration platforms.
Experience supporting enrollment, eligibility, payroll, or EDI files.
Knowledge of employee benefits including:
HRA
FSA
LSA
DCAP
HSA
COBRA
Experience with data imports, file feeds, and system integrations.
SQL or reporting experience.
Experience supporting large employer populations.
