Senior Director of Civic Engagement & Combating Antisemitism- Phoenix

Position Summary

The Center for Jewish Philanthropy seeks a strategic and experienced professional to serve as Senior Director of Civic Engagement & Combating Antisemitism. This position will lead CJP's efforts to combat antisemitism, advance public policy priorities, strengthen civic engagement, and build strategic relationships with government officials, school district leaders, and community partners throughout Greater Phoenix. Serving as CJP's lead professional for local and state advocacy and K-12 engagement, the Director will develop proactive strategies that strengthen Jewish life in Greater Phoenix. The role will report to the COO.

Key Responsibilities

Advocacy & Government Affairs

• Build and maintain relationships with local and state elected officials, government agencies, and key policymakers.

• Monitor legislation and public policy issues affecting the Jewish community and develop advocacy strategies.

• Prepare policy briefings, talking points, and recommendations for professional and volunteer leadership.

Jewish Advocacy Day & Civic Engagement

• Lead the planning and execution of Jewish Advocacy Day at the Arizona State Capitol for CJP, engaging community partners where appropriate, and develop year-round civic engagement and advocacy opportunities.

• Recruit, prepare, and mobilize volunteer advocates and lay leaders for all programs, including JFNA Advocacy Fly-Ins.

K-12 Advocacy & Antisemitism

• Serve as CJP's primary liaison to school districts, school boards, superintendents, and educational leaders.

• Build strategic relationships across public, charter, and private school systems to strengthen understanding and support for the Jewish community.

• Monitor emerging issues affecting Jewish students, families, and educators.

• Coordinate community responses to incidents involving antisemitism and bias within K-12 settings.

• Collaborate with CJP's Education Associate and community partners to support a coordinated approach to education and antisemitism-related concerns.

Strategic Partnerships

• Build and maintain relationships with Jewish communal organizations, advocacy groups, civic leaders, law enforcement partners, and other key stakeholders.

• Advance coalition-building efforts that strengthen advocacy outcomes and community resilience.

• Engage interfaith and civic partners when such relationships advance CJP's strategic priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.

• Five to seven years of experience in advocacy, government affairs, public policy, education policy, nonprofit leadership, or a related field.

• Demonstrated success building relationships with elected officials, policymakers, educational leaders, and community stakeholders.

• Strong understanding of legislative and governmental processes.

• Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and public speaking skills.

• Ability to work independently, manage sensitive issues, and drive initiatives from concept to execution.

• Experience in Arizona public policy, government affairs, education systems, or advocacy preferred.

• High integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to the mission of the Center for Jewish Philanthropy of Greater Phoenix

Salary and Benefits

• Salary range: $90,000-$95,000 commensurate with experience
