Position Overview

A well-established nonprofit organization serving a large financial institution, is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead and oversee its financial operations.

This is a senior leadership role for a strong financial professional who can provide high-level financial oversight while also ensuring that the day-to-day finance function is structured, accurate, and running efficiently.

The CFO will oversee a small finance team, including a Controller and Bookkeeper, and will work closely with executive leadership on financial planning, budgeting, reporting, compliance, and overall fiscal strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee all financial operations of the nonprofit organization

Manage and provide direction to the Controller, Bookkeeper, and finance team

Develop and oversee annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning

Provide leadership with clear and timely financial reporting and analysis

Monitor cash flow, expenses, financial performance, and organizational financial health

Strengthen financial controls, processes, and procedures

Ensure accurate financial reporting and proper accounting practices

Oversee audits, tax filings, regulatory requirements, and nonprofit financial compliance

Work with external accountants, auditors, banks, financial institutions, and other financial partners

Support the organization’s work with financial institutions and a large financial institution

Identify financial risks and opportunities and provide recommendations to leadership

Ensure the finance department operates with strong accountability, organization, and accuracy

Support leadership with strategic financial decision-making and long-term planning

Qualifications

Significant senior-level finance and accounting experience

Previous experience as a CFO, Finance Director, Controller, or similar senior financial leadership role

Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, financial reporting, and internal controls

Experience managing and developing a finance/accounting team

Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on when needed

Strong organizational, analytical, and leadership skills

High level of integrity, discretion, and accountability

Experience working with financial institutions strongly preferred

Nonprofit accounting/finance experience strongly preferred

CPA preferred but not required
