Job description
Overview
The Executive Assistant to the CEO is responsible for maximizing CEO effectiveness by ensuring his time, commitments, communication, and logistics run seamlessly. The purpose of this role is to maximize the amount of time the CEO can focus on high-leverage work that only he can do. Working closely with the CEO and Chief of Staff, this role creates the proactive structure and preparation that allows the CEO to stay focused and coordinated.
Success | What outcome you're responsible for
Primary Outcome: A CEO whose time and logistics are exceptionally and proactively well managed so he has maximum focus on high-leverage work only he can do.
More about the CEO’s Outcomes: At Knit, the CEO is responsible for driving “Where are we going and how do we win?” His core ownership is around vision, talent, and finance, which includes setting company direction, pressure-testing key hypotheses, recruiting exceptional people, developing leaders, and ensuring we have the capital to achieve our goals. His ideal Day-to-day should ideally look like: Key interviews, time with direct reports and leaders to create clarity, opening commercial doors, advancing and closing major opportunities, and de-risking company-level bets.
Responsibilities | What you will own
Own the CEO’s calendar and time. Manage and prioritize meetings with strategic intent, protect focus time, anticipate conflicts, and think several weeks ahead.
Keep the CEO prepared. Ensure the CEO has the context, materials, agendas, and follow-ups needed for meetings and important commitments.
Manage CEO logistics. Own travel, scheduling, expenses, reservations, and other administrative details from start to finish.
Coordinate key stakeholders. Serve as a highly responsive point of coordination for executives, board members, investors, candidates, customers, and other important stakeholders.
Stay ahead of commitments. Track deadlines, follow-ups, and action items so nothing requiring the CEO’s attention falls through the cracks.
Support high-priority projects and events. Partner with the Chief of Staff, Head of Operations, Workplace Operations, and other leadership on important meetings, company events, and other CEO priorities as needed.
Required sills and experiences
The things that matter most to us in this role are:
Pace: You have 5+ years of experience supporting a CEO or founder in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment, ideally at Series B stage. You understand startup velocity, thrive under the demands of it, and move quickly & confidently even when info is incomplete.
Proactive Understanding & Communication: You anticipate needs, see around corners, and solve problems before they reach the CEO. You are exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, and you communicate with clarity, brevity, professionalism, and responsiveness across internal and external stakeholders.
Trust: You exercise exceptional judgment and discretion, particularly with confidential information and founder privacy. You know what to handle independently, what to escalate, and how to navigate competing priorities without constant direction. You are a trusted partner with other leadership, driving productive collaboration without friction.
Style & Taste: You have strong instincts for how the CEO should show up across every touchpoint, from comms and meetings to travel, events, thank you notes, and beyond. Your judgment reflects the intersection of a high-growth technology company and an Enterprise brand: modern, entrepreneurial, polished, thoughtful, high-integrity, and never performative.
