Job description

We are looking for an Accounting & Tax Associate to join our Israelbased team.
This role is designed for someone who already has some practical accounting or tax experience and wants broader exposure, greater responsibility, and the opportunity to continue developing technically.

We are flexible regarding the exact level of the candidate. Someone may come from a tax background, an accounting/bookkeeping background, or a combination of both.

Responsibilities

Depending on your experience and strengths, responsibilities may include:

Preparation and review support for U.S. tax returns, including Forms 1065, 1120S, 1120, 1040, 990, and related filings
Preparation of tax workpapers and supporting schedules
Bookkeeping and general ledger accounting
Bank and credit card reconciliations
Journal entries, accruals, and account analysis
Monthly and yearend close procedures
Financial statement preparation
General ledger cleanup and troubleshooting
Real estate and property accounting
Intercompany accounting
Multientity consolidations
Researching accounting and tax issues
Communicating with clients and assisting with information requests
Learning and working across multiple accounting and tax platforms
We do not expect every candidate to have experience in every one of these areas.

The role can be shaped around the strengths of the right person while also providing opportunities to expand into areas they have not previously worked in.

Qualifications

Formal accounting education required
1 year of accounting, bookkeeping, financial reporting, or tax experience required
Strong understanding of debits and credits, journal entries, and financial
statements

Ability to understand and analyze accounting activity rather than simply process transactions
Strong attention to detail
Desire to continue developing technically
Comfortable learning new accounting and tax concepts
Ability to work collaboratively while gradually taking greater ownership of
assignments

Experience with Excel, QuickBooks, U.S. taxation, or professional accounting software is helpful.

Experience with any particular software package is not required. We will train the right candidate on the systems we use.

CPA licensure or pursuit of a CPA license is not required.

Who Will Thrive in This Role

We are particularly interested in someone who wants to become very good at what they do.

We value people who are curious, thoughtful, coachable, and willing to continue developing their technical knowledge.

This is a good fit for someone who wants exposure to a wide range of accounting and tax matters rather than staying within a very narrow role.

Schedule

We are open to both fulltime and parttime candidates, provided the candidate is available five days per week.

Because our firm serves U.S. clients, occasional evening meetings or calls will be necessary. This will not necessarily be a daily requirement, but candidates should have the flexibility to accommodate U.S. business hours when needed.

Location

This is primarily an inperson position in Jerusalem.

We are actively building a collaborative office environment where team members can work together, learn from one another, and grow professionally.

Growth Opportunity

There is significant room for growth for someone who demonstrates capability and takes on increasing responsibility.
Depending on experience, performance, and interests, the role can develop toward Senior Accountant, Tax Senior, Manager, or another specialized path.
Compensation is competitive and will reflect the candidate’s experience and capabilities.

If you are looking for a role where you can deepen your accounting and tax skills while getting exposure to a broad range of work, we would like to speak with you.
Tell them you heard about the position from Nefesh B’Nefesh. Please do not repost position.
