Learning Specialist Long Term Substitute at Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School

Available February 2027. The Learning Specialist provides Bernard Zell students with literacy, math, and executive functioning instruction, support, and guidance rooted in best practices, educational standards, and pedagogy, supporting students with diverse learning needs in 3rd and 4th grades. In addition to direct student support, the Learning Specialist works closely with teachers on differentiation guidance, classroom accommodations, data collection, and data-driven decision-making. Responsibilities: • Plan, teach, and support daily literacy and math instruction and evidence-based interventions with a specific focus on 3rd and 4th grade • Use evidence-based interventions and multisensory techniques, particularly Wilson Fundations and the Wilson Reading System • Maintain a caseload supporting students in need of academic support and intervention, working within Student Services, Lower School, and across the school • Plan accommodations and modifications of the general curriculum and facilitate implementation in general education classrooms • Support data collection for reading and math benchmark screening assessments from Senior Kindergarten through 2nd grade • Collaborate with teachers, families, and private providers to ensure a seamless home-school connection regarding student progress • Offer consulting to parents, faculty, and staff, and fulfill co-curricular responsibilities including lunch, recess, and other community duties Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field required; graduate degree preferred • Degree, endorsement, or coursework in reading or math instruction, or special education, preferred • Minimum 2 years of classroom teaching experience required • Elementary grades literacy and math instruction required • Training and experience with multi-sensory, structured literacy programs required • Knowledge and experience with current evidence-based intervention programs in reading and math • Support and promote pluralistic Jewish education and religious practice Salary: $195 per day.
