Job Purpose: Our media intern will be a vital team member at the SJU LGBTQ+ Center. The center hosts events, provides campus resources and more! In this role, the media intern will assist in managing social media and creating Student team members will directly be involved in the daily operations of the Center. Desirable skill areas include creativity, organizational, communication (verbal and written), media and tech. This position reports to the LGBTQ+ Center Directors.

Job Responsibilities:

Develop fresh and innovative creative materials for print and digital distribution such as posters, flyers, stand-alone campaigns, event signage and other projects
Create engaging content for all social media platforms including Instagram and Tik Tok
Lead social media campaigns and online programs that increase engagement with the LGBTQ+ Center
Assist with monitoring all social media channels and activities
Maintain organization of marketing materials, graphic designs, event descriptions, and photographs for efficient use
Take photos and videos at events to assist in promotion and maintain record keeping of LGBTQ+ Center history
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Excellent computer skills and experience posting a variety of content across different platforms
Knowledge of major social media platforms including Instagram and TikTok
Experience with graphic design (Photoshop, Canva, Capcut etc.)
Interest in autonomous work including occasions without direct supervision
Demonstrated knowledge (or desire to learn) of marginalized communities and historically underrepresented groups
Ability to handle sensitive matters in a positive and professional manner
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality when required
