Peer Advocate — Peer Support Program

Park Slope Center for Mental Health is looking for a
Peer Advocate to join our Peer Support Program in Brooklyn, NY!

We’re looking for a compassionate,
recovery- and growth-oriented person
who wants to make a meaningful impact.

In this role, you’ll provide non-clinical peer support
to teenagers and young people in the community
who are navigating emotional and life challenges.

What You’ll Do

  • 🤝 Provide peer support, mentorship, and encouragement
  • 💬 Use lived experience to build trust, hope, and connection
  • 🌱 Help patients identify their goals, strengths, and coping strategies
  • 🧭 Connect patients with community resources and support
  • 💪 Encourage engagement and continued participation in treatment
  • 🤝 Coordinate care with the patient’s therapist
  • 📝 Keep accurate and timely documentation
  • 🔒 Maintain confidentiality, ethics, and professional boundaries

What We’re Looking For

  • No certification required to apply!
  • We’ll support qualified candidates through the certification process,
    such as CRPA or YPA
  • Lived experience relevant to supporting youth
  • Peer counseling, mentoring, or similar experience is a plus — not required
  • Comfortable with technology and everyday work tasks
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality

Part-time and full-time positions available!

🕐 Incredibly flexible hours

📍 Brooklyn, New York

💰 $25–$30 per hour
