Job description

Who You Are

You own insurance billing across the full cycle — eligibility verification, prior authorizations, claim submission, denial management, appeals, and aged-account resolution — with a real track record of improving collections and reducing outstanding balances.
Hands-on DME billing experience is essential — you’ve been directly responsible for billing outcomes on durable medical equipment claims, not just adjacent to them.
You can read an EOB and know the next move — accurately identifying coverage, payments, denials, adjustments, and patient responsibility, then deciding whether to rebill, appeal, escalate, or close.
You’re fluent in medical coding and compliance — CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10, plus the standards that govern DME billing (HIPAA, CMS, ERISA, ACA).
You’re hands-on with Brightree and NikoHealth and can work in both without ramp-up; familiarity with other billing/EMR systems (Epic, Kareo, AdvancedMD) is a plus.
You bring at least 3 years of professional insurance billing and eligibility experience where you were directly responsible for billing outcomes.
You’re a clear, empathetic communicator — able to explain a denial or a patient-responsibility balance to a patient, provider, or payer without jargon and without losing patience.
You’re detail-obsessed and organized, holding accuracy steady while juggling multiple priorities and deadlines.
You naturally reach for AI in your work — at Babylist, every team uses AI daily. You’re already using it to move faster and improve your output, and you stay curious about what’s coming next.

How You Will Make An Impact

Verify eligibility and run benefit investigations through payer portals and direct payer outreach.
Submit, track, and follow up on claims to speed reimbursement and cut denials.
Work aged accounts — find what’s blocking payment and drive each balance to resolution.
Own EOB review from read to resolution: rebill, appeal, escalate, or close.
Draft and submit well-documented appeals on denied claims.
Walk patients through their benefits and billing questions with clarity and empathy.
Partner with internal teams to tighten workflows, strengthen compliance, and improve the patient experience.
Put AI-enabled tools to work on billing and reimbursement — without trading away accuracy or compliance.

Why This Role

The stakes are human and immediate — clean billing is the difference between a family getting essential equipment on time or facing delays and surprise costs.
You own billing outcomes end to end — the full cycle is yours, not a narrow slice handed down a claims line.
Babylist Health is still scaling, so the billing process isn’t set in stone — the workflow and denial fixes you make will actually stick.
There’s genuine appetite here for AI in billing — you’ll get to put new tools to work and see them adopted, not shelved.
