Responsibilities
POSITION OVERVIEW
The CAD Designer develops and refines original designs and artwork for textiles, knits, and graphics using CAD systems and design software. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with design and production teams. A strong understanding of the brand, customer, and the ability to translate trends into prints and graphics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop textile designs, patterns, and color variations using CAD systems, illustrator, Photoshop, and other design tools.
Prepare or review final designs, creating production-ready files for external vendors.
Stay updated on trends in textiles and graphics, incorporating these insights into design work.
Actively contribute to brainstorming sessions and provide creative input to enhance design direction.
Work closely with the design team to develop seasonal print stories and color palettes.
Manage multiple projects, ensuring alignment with timelines and communicating progress to cross-functional teams.
Review and ensure designs meet quality standards and specifications before final approval.
Incorporate feedback from team members and stakeholders to refine designs and improve final products.
Stay current with updates and new features in design software to leverage advanced tools and techniques.
Maintain organized documentation of the design process, files, and revisions for cross-functional teams’ easy access.
Comfortable managing calendars and scheduling design reviews to meet deadlines.
Coordinate and manage appointments with external print vendors based on seasonal calendar.
Identify and implement improvements in design processes to increase efficiency and productivity.
Attend merchandising sales meetings to understand and implement print-related consumer needs.
Participate in ongoing training or professional development related to design and CAD technology.
Attend relevant trade shows for print, graphic and CAD systems.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
5-7 years of experience in a design-related field, including experience in CAD Systems, PLM Systems, and Digital Design Software.
Associate degree in fine art, design, or a related field preferred.
Ability to illustrate and create artwork and prints.
Strong understanding of printing, patterns, repeats, and color composition.
Experience leading and developing Assistant/Associate designers preferred.
CRITICAL SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
Proficient in CAD systems, PLM Systems, and Digital Design Software.
Strong sense of color, composition, and understanding of printing, patterns, and repeats.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to complete projects within deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
