Job description
The Director, IT will lead Iterative Health’s technology infrastructure, systems, security, and IT operations as the company continues to scale across its corporate and clinical research network. This role will be responsible for building a secure, reliable, and scalable technology environment that enables employees to do their best work while supporting the operational needs of a growing healthcare technology and services organization.
The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands-on IT leader who can balance long-term technology planning with day-to-day execution. You will partner closely with leaders across teams to ensure technology solutions are aligned with business priorities, scalable, secure, and user-friendly.
Where You’ll Drive Impact
IT Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute a scalable IT strategy aligned with Iterative Health’s business and growth objectives.
Establish IT roadmaps, priorities, standards, and operating processes across the organization.
Serve as a strategic technology advisor to executive and functional leaders.
Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and employee experience.
Develop and manage the IT budget, vendors, contracts, and technology investments.
Build and mature the IT function from an initial lean team into a scalable organization capable of supporting a rapidly growing, multi-site healthcare technology and services business.
Lead, coach, and develop the Corporate IT team.
Establish clear roles, responsibilities, service expectations, and performance metrics.
Infrastructure & IT Operations
Oversee corporate IT infrastructure, networks, endpoints, applications, identity management, and collaboration tools.
Ensure reliable, streamlined, secure, and scalable technology across corporate offices, remote employees, and clinical research sites while keeping costs efficient.
Establish standards for device provisioning, lifecycle management, access management, and technical support.
Build effective IT service management processes, including help desk, incident management, asset management, and service-level expectations.
Establish the IT operating model, organizational structure, processes, policies, and service standards required to support the company’s evolving technology needs.
Cybersecurity, Privacy & Compliance
Oversee the company’s cybersecurity program, and work with the internal team to set security strategy, policies, controls, risk management, monitoring, incident response, and employee security awareness.
Oversee vulnerability management, endpoint protection, identity and access controls, and security awareness programs (IT and networking infrastructure initially, but may extend to cloud systems eventually).
Coordinate incident response and business continuity planning for technology-related risks and lead information and security for the company.
Systems & Applications
Partner with business leaders to assess, select, implement, and optimize enterprise applications and technology platforms.
Establish governance around application ownership, integrations, data flows, and technology standards.
Identify opportunities to consolidate systems, automate workflows, and improve data connectivity.
Support technology integrations related to acquisitions, partnerships, and organizational growth.
Establish governance for enterprise applications, including application ownership, administrative access, lifecycle management, integrations, licensing, renewals, security requirements, and data ownership.
Establish standards for SSO, automated provisioning/deprovisioning, role-based access, and application access reviews.
Identify and implement opportunities to automate employee lifecycle, access management, IT operations, and cross-functional administrative workflows.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Partner with People and Finance on systems supporting employees, payroll, financial operations, and business administration.
Partner with Clinical Operations and site leadership to support technology needs across the clinical research network.
Establish a formal co-governance structure with Product & Engineering to ensure appropriate technology, security, and compliance controls are in place, with clear ownership, accountability, and separation of duties.
Provide clear communication to employees and leadership regarding technology changes, risks, and priorities.
Performs related duties as requested
Partner with Security, Legal, Compliance, and Procurement to establish technology and security requirements for third-party vendors and participate in vendor risk assessments.
Technology Integration & Expansion
Lead IT due diligence and technology integration for acquisitions, partnerships, new offices, and clinical research sites.
Develop repeatable standards for onboarding acquired organizations, users, devices, applications, networks, and data.
Identify technology risks, integration costs, system redundancies, and remediation requirements during due diligence.
Develop transition plans for identity, endpoints, collaboration platforms, networking, SaaS applications, and security controls.
What You Bring
10+ years of progressive IT experience, including significant experience leading enterprise IT operations.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field preferred.
Experience leading IT within a high-growth, healthcare, technology, life sciences, or similarly complex organization.
Proven experience developing and executing an enterprise IT strategy and roadmap.
Strong understanding of infrastructure, SaaS applications, networking, endpoint management, identity and access management, and cybersecurity.
Experience managing IT budgets, vendors, technology implementations, and third-party service providers.
Experience building and leading high-performing IT teams.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and translate business needs into practical technology solutions.
Strong understanding of IT governance, security, privacy, compliance, and risk management.
Experience supporting distributed or multi-site organizations preferred.
Experience with M&A technology integration or organizational scaling strongly preferred.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
