Job description

The Bookkeeper plays a vital role in sustaining this vision through accurate financial management, transparent reporting, and the highest standards of integrity. This position ensures that Darchei Noam’s financial operations are organized, compliant, and aligned with the values of kindness, inclusion, and stewardship.
This mainly remote part-time (approx. 5-15 hours/week) role manages daily accounting, payroll, investments, subscriptions, and financial reporting. The Bookkeeper also supports membership billing, fundraising deposits, donor acknowledgments, event funds /registration, and outstanding balance management, in coordination with the Synagogue Director, Staff, Treasurer, and President. Most work is remote, with some evening and weekend work for holidays and events. Reports to Synagogue Director.
Skills
Experience with investments, endowments, or nonprofit funds ? Familiarity with Jewish communal or synagogue financial structures
Proven bookkeeping experience with non-profit - 1 year or more
Hands-on experience with Quickbooks Online*, Shulcloud and Excel. (*Quickbooks Online Accounting, Payroll, and Reporting Modules.)
Experience with payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles
Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills
Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
Within 30 minute radius of Ambler, PA
Preferred:
Experience with investments, endowments, or nonprofit funds
Familiarity with Jewish communal or synagogue financial structures and Jewish Culture
