Are you a problem-solver who enjoys working with technology and equipment? The Revenue Equipment Attendant is responsible for maintaining and repairing fare collection systems that support seamless customer journeys across the TTC network.

What You Will Do

The Revenue Equipment Attendant (REA) is responsible for supporting the operation and maintenance of fare collection and payment equipment across the TTC. This includes fare payment machines, transfer machines, ticket validators, turnstiles, fare gates, and related security equipment.

Key duties include collecting and replenishing cash, restocking fare media and supplies, conducting equipment inspections, performing routine maintenance, replacing components, cleaning equipment, clearing jams, and troubleshooting basic operational issues. The REA may also assist and escort technical staff during repair and service activities to help ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

You will be responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

You have completed Grade 12, (technical program) or its equivalent as determined by the Training Department, including trade subjects in machine shop practice
Must have successfully completed Community College level courses approved by the TTC in electrical theory, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and MIG and TIG Welding; or provide proof of equivalence from an accredited academic institution
Must have a demonstrated ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction, communicate effectively, write legibly and have basic mathematical skills for the purpose of balancing working funds
Must have good keyboarding skills and a demonstrated ability to operate a desktop and laptop computer, tablets, handheld device, pager, Tetra Radio and related software applications (e.g. spreadsheets, MS Office and database systems)
Must have a valid, non-probationary, class “G” or better Ontario Driver’s License or better
Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.

Other Requirements:

Must pass tests set by the Revenue Operations Department which correspond in content to the knowledge, theory, and/or practical requirements described above
Must pass the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) Check
Must successfully pass a physical assessment (including the ability to lift and carry bags of supplies and tools while walking and climbing/descending stairs)
Must attend and successfully complete the Training Department’s instruction and testing for the operation of a TTC vehicle
Must successfully complete Defensive Driving, Surface and Subway Rulebook training and recertification as required
Must attend and successfully complete the Loss Prevention Section’s training for robbery prevention and other departmental training related to the work (e.g. procedures, safety & security practices, etc.)
You will need to provide your own set of hand tools as per an established tool list
