Job description

Position Summary: The Air Import Brokerage Clerk is responsible for preparing customs documentation, classifying goods according to the tariff coding system, and ensuring all import shipments comply with applicable laws and regulations. This role is crucial in facilitating the smooth import of high-value goods, including ensuring all necessary paperwork is accurate and processed promptly.

Key Responsibilities:

Request, compile, and review import documentation such as customs invoices, CITES, and Fish & Wildlife-related documents.
Accurately classify goods based on the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and process entries related to Fish & Wildlife and FDA regulations.
Ensure compliance with all federal regulations and customs duties throughout the import process.
Monitor and manage the completion and approval of freight paperwork before transportation.
Maintain detailed and organized shipment files and ensure timely billing.
Follow up with Customs and Other Government Agencies (OGA) to ensure timely customs releases.
Audit files to verify that all customs formalities have been satisfied.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 1 year of experience in Air Import Brokerage.
Comprehensive knowledge of FDA, USDA, Fish & Wildlife, EPA, and other relevant government agencies.
Strong understanding of the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
Experience with Importer Security Filing (ISF) requirements.
High attention to detail and the ability to manage complex documentation processes.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to handling issues.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing procedures.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Familiarity with QuestaWeb or similar software is a plus.
F&WL and watch classification experience is a plus.
