Job description
Job Description
Avaloq's R&D Lab is building a SaaS, API-first, composable banking platform for enterprise wealth managers and private banks. As Senior Solutions Architect, you will be the technical bridge between that platform and the institutions we serve, combining deep investment and portfolio domain knowledge with hands-on technical skill.
This is amongst the first technical roles we are hiring for our Fort Lauderdale site. You will work closely with our Product, Engineering, and Sales teams, and support client implementation teams through their integration journey.
The first three to six months:
Some of what you can expect early on:
Building depth in our platform, its data model, and its integration surface
Getting to know our clients, their systems, and how their data reaches us
Working with Sales on live opportunities, joining client conversations and technical discovery as you build context
Taking on increasing responsibility as you build context, always in alignment with the Zurich team
What you will do:
Architect and support proof-of-concept implementations, translating client requirements into integration designs
Run technical discovery with prospective clients to understand their portfolio, performance, and data requirements, and partner with Sales to address technical questions
Provide hands-on technical support to client implementation teams, troubleshooting integration issues and advising on API and MCP usage
Shape the structure and standards for our technical documentation, covering implementation guides, API references, data models, and integration patterns, and work with the team to keep it accurate and current
Design reference architectures, sample code, and integration accelerators that reduce time to value for client onboarding
Translate domain models such as positions, transactions, performance, and fees into clear integration guidance for client engineering teams
Collaborate with Product and Engineering to channel client feedback and influence roadmap priorities
Stay current on platform capabilities, releases, and roadmap so you can advise clients on what is coming
Contribute to the knowledge base and self-service resources that help clients move faster on their own
Build and maintain detailed knowledge of Avaloq and other core banking systems that feed data into our platform
Our stack:
Serverless-first on AWS: Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, S3, and Bedrock. Terraform and OpenTofu for infrastructure, GitHub Actions for CI/CD. Clients integrate with us over our APIs and through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Product teams work in Rust, TypeScript, Python, Vue, and Angular. We do not run containers.
Qualifications
10+ years in financial services technology, with strong domain expertise across investment and trading platforms, portfolio data, performance calculation, fee mechanics, and rebalancing
Proven architecture experience: data architecture, solution design, and translating complex domain models into efficient implementations
Experience with event-driven, API-first architectures and modern integration patterns
Solid programming and scripting ability for building demos, accelerators, and integration examples. We are language-agnostic; Rust, TypeScript, or Python all work here
A track record of producing clear technical material for varied audiences, from client engineers to executives
Exceptional communication skills: present and demo to technical and executive audiences, and bridge business, product, and engineering
Experience supporting enterprise clients through complex implementations, ideally in banking or wealth management
It would be a real bonus if you have:
Hands-on experience with AWS or another major cloud platform
Experience with core banking systems, whether Avaloq or a comparable platform
Experience defining documentation standards or information architecture for a technical product
Experience with AI-assisted engineering and documentation tools
Familiarity with GIPS, performance attribution methodologies, or regulatory reporting in wealth management
