Job description
The Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte is a community-building nonprofit supporting a $7 million annual campaign and more than 60 Jewish organizations and initiatives, part of a network of more than 140 Federations across North America. The JCRC Associate Director is a new, full-time, externally-facing position funded through the JFNA Frontline Initiative grant. It leads the Federation's day-to-day civic, government, and interfaith work in Greater Charlotte — holding the relationships with elected officials, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, interfaith partners, and community organizations that the Jewish community depends on — and supports the NC Statewide JCRC Director on statewide priorities including the NC Jewish Coalition and the expansion of Charlotte program models such as Outshine Hate. Reports to the NC Statewide JCRC Director. Responsibilities: • Build and maintain relationships with K-12 education leaders, elected officials, interfaith and civic partners, and community coalitions, representing the Federation independently at Charlotte-area meetings and events • Manage and implement JCRC and Outshine Hate programming — educator trainings, student and parent engagement, and facilitated community conversations • Lead monitoring, documentation, and coordinated response to antisemitism and bias incidents alongside law enforcement, the Secure Community Network, and school administrators • Manage the Outshine Hate Leadership Institute cohort in Greater Charlotte, including recruitment, mentor matching, and logistics • Track state and federal policy and support Advocacy Day in Raleigh, legislative briefings, and Washington, DC advocacy trips • Draft talking points, policy summaries, briefing memos, and stakeholder communications Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience • Two to five years in community relations, government affairs, advocacy, civic engagement, or nonprofit relationship building • Strong understanding of contemporary antisemitism and Jewish communal priorities • Outstanding written, verbal, and public speaking skills; highly organized and deadline-oriented • Valid driver's license; must be based in the greater Charlotte area Note: Weekday office hours plus occasional evenings and weekends, with a hybrid option. Occasional travel to other North Carolina Jewish communities including Asheville, Wilmington, Winston-Salem, and Fayetteville.
