Job description
The Jewish Community Campus in Overland Park is a 290,000 square foot building on a 29-acre campus, home to nine Jewish agencies including the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City. The campus includes a preschool, a K-12 private school, a 500-seat theater, a fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, commercial kitchens, offices, and public meeting spaces. The Facilities Custodian performs basic building upkeep including trash pick-up, room set-ups, light plumbing, electrical, carpentry, interior maintenance, and exterior cleaning. **Schedule:** Full-time, Sunday–Thursday. Tuesday–Thursday 1:30pm–10:00pm; Sundays typically 8:00am–4:30pm, flexible depending on the event schedule. Responsibilities: • Plumbing maintenance — sinks, showers, toilets, urinals • Lighting and electrical work including ballasts, bulbs, and outlets • Carpentry, drywall, mudding, painting, wallpapering, and drop ceiling tile installation • Grounds maintenance as needed — trash pick-up, salt application, snow removal • Room set-ups and tear-downs, general clean-up, and cleaning of commercial kitchen equipment • Assist the Building Engineer as needed Requirements: • Minimum three years of commercial building maintenance experience covering light plumbing, lighting, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and cleaning; pool maintenance a plus • Able to lift 50 pounds and carry up to 90 feet; extensive walking and climbing of stairs and ladders • Good manual dexterity with hand tools and good visual acuity for finish work • Able to work outdoors in heat, snow, and ice, and to work a flexible schedule including overtime Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance; paid time off and paid holidays; 403(b) retirement plan with employer contribution and match; free family membership to the fitness center and pools; staff discounts on preschool, camp, and after-school care.
