Senior Director of Development at Jewish Long Beach

Open to everyone, Jewish Long Beach has served the community since 1948 across three interconnected pillars — the Alpert JCC, the Jewish Community Foundation, and the Jewish Federation. Each year more than 10,000 people visit the Alpert JCC for early childhood education, day camp, fitness, recreation, aquatics, and Jewish cultural programs. The organization manages over $30 million in assets and raises nearly $2 million annually. The Senior Director of Development leads and expands the philanthropic vision of Jewish Long Beach — cultivating major gifts, shaping donor strategy, and building a culture of philanthropy. This is a senior leadership role working side by side with the CEO. Reports to the Chief Executive Officer; works from the Jewish Long Beach offices. Responsibilities: • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for Jewish Long Beach and its Foundation • Oversee all fundraising activity — major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, and special events • Cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors, foundations, corporations, and community partners with personal, high-touch engagement • Lead and mentor a team of philanthropy professionals • Manage Foundation granting, scholarships, and legacy giving, including proposals, reporting, and donor communications • Collaborate with marketing and senior leadership on campaign messaging and materials, and report fundraising progress to leadership, the Board, and committees • Use data and CRM tools to track relationships, campaigns, and outcomes Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred • Minimum 5 years of professional fundraising experience, ideally including direct solicitation, legacy solicitation, and campaign execution • Experience with Federation campaigns, major gifts, and Foundation fundraising strongly preferred • Strong storytelling and communication skills; able to manage multiple campaigns and priorities • Understanding of Jewish culture, philanthropy, and the Federation and Foundation giving ecosystem Salary: $95,000–$150,000, depending on experience. Regular, full-time, exempt. Note: Standard office environment with frequent evening and weekend commitments tied to donor engagement and community events.
