Vincentian Schenley Gardens – Oakland, Pittsburgh PA
Full-Time availability Monday-Friday, with every other weekend available!
7am-3pm
3pm-11pm

As a Medication Technician, you’ll be responsible for the safe administration and management of residents’ medications and treatments while also providing hands-on assistance with daily care needs.
Current active Med-Tech Training is required.

What You'll Do
As a Medication Technician, you'll help ensure residents receive their medications and treatments safely and according to established standards. You'll also work closely with nursing staff and other members of the care team to support residents' overall needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
Medication & Resident Care
Safely administer and manage residents’ medications and treatments
Perform medication-related tasks including vital signs, height and weight measurements, glucose monitoring, and resident observation following medication administration
Monitor residents and report changes in condition to the appropriate nurse or physician
Assess skin integrity and report areas of concern
Maintain proper narcotic counts and medication documentation
Complete medication cart audits, monthly recaps, and reviews as assigned
Order and reorder medications as needed
Identify and report medication errors and complete required documentation
Review and transcribe written physician orders and upload orders to the eMAR when appropriate
Assist with resident admissions and readmissions
Complete requisitions and coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered
Communication & Clinical Support
Assist physicians during rounds
Notify physicians and appropriate contacts of significant changes in a resident’s condition
Respond appropriately when residents experience a fall, illness, or emergency and determine when emergency services may be necessary
Complete incident reports and communicate with physicians and Power of Attorney representatives as required
Work closely with nurses, peers, residents, families, and other members of the care team
Daily Resident Support
In addition to medication responsibilities, Medication Technicians assist residents with their daily needs, including:
Personal hygiene such as bathing, dressing, shaving, dental hygiene, and hair and nail care
Dining and nutritional needs
Escorting residents and coordinating internal transportation
Room checks and resident rounds
Light housekeeping duties as needed
Resident-centered activities and programs
Recognizing and reporting safety hazards, incidents, errors, and accidents
Most importantly, you'll help create an environment where every resident is treated with kindness, respect, dignity, and compassion.
What We're Looking For
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Medication Administration Training
Current/active Med-Tech training or certification
Preferred:
Previous resident care experience or related training
Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR, or First Aid certification
