Occupational Therapist (OT)

The Occupational Therapist will provide developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed services to children with sensory, motor, self-regulation, developmental, and functional needs while collaborating with families and members of the child’s interdisciplinary team.

What You'll Do
Provide individualized and small-group occupational therapy services based on each child’s identified needs, goals, treatment plan, and service mandate.
Address fine-motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, self-regulation, motor planning, coordination, functional participation, and activities of daily living.
Complete occupational therapy evaluations, screenings, observations, treatment plans, progress reports, and other required clinical documentation.
Develop and implement developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed, and child-centered therapeutic interventions.
Monitor children’s progress and modify treatment approaches as clinically appropriate.
Promote the generalization of occupational therapy strategies across play, classroom routines, home environments, transitions, self-care activities, and other naturally occurring settings.
Collaborate with families, Special Education Teachers, Speech-Language Pathologists, Behavior Technicians/RBTs, Family Advocacy staff, service coordinators, and other members of the child’s interdisciplinary team.
Provide practical strategies and recommendations to caregivers and staff to support each child’s participation, independence, and development.
Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, case consultations, trainings, and professional development as applicable to the position.
Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with TICP procedures and applicable regulatory, funding, and professional requirements.
Maintain confidentiality and professional standards in all interactions with children, families, colleagues, and outside providers.
Additional Center-Based Responsibilities

Center-based Occupational Therapists may also:

Collaborate directly with classroom teams to integrate therapeutic strategies into the child’s daily program.
Support children within classroom, sensory gym, therapeutic, and other naturally occurring program environments.
Assist with the safe and appropriate use of occupational therapy and sensory equipment.
Provide appropriate oversight, mentorship, or supervision to COTAs, occupational therapy students, or fieldwork students when assigned and professionally appropriate.
Home-Based/Community Responsibilities
Home and community-based Occupational Therapists may also:

Travel to assigned cases within designated service areas.
Provide services within the child’s natural environment in accordance with applicable program requirements.
Collaborate closely with caregivers to incorporate therapeutic strategies into everyday family routines.
Maintain communication with service coordinators, families, supervisors, and other members of the child’s treatment team.
Maintain accurate scheduling, service, and documentation records for assigned cases.

Qualifications
Required
Degree in Occupational Therapy from an educational program meeting New York State licensure requirements.
Current New York State Occupational Therapist license and registration in good standing.
Appropriate professional credentials required to practice Occupational Therapy in New York State.
Strong clinical documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with families and interdisciplinary teams.
Commitment to providing child-centered, culturally responsive, inclusive, and neurodiversity-affirming services.

Preferred
Pediatric occupational therapy experience.
Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children.
Experience supporting children with autism, developmental delays, sensory processing differences, or other neurodevelopmental needs.
Experience within Early Intervention, CPSE, preschool, school-based, home-based, or other pediatric settings.
Experience supervising or mentoring COTAs or occupational therapy students.
Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.

Compensation Options
TICP offers multiple compensation structures based on provider availability, employment arrangement, and program needs:

W-2 Salaried Occupational Therapist
$75,000–$80,000 annually

Designed for clinicians seeking a consistent schedule and ongoing role within TICP’s clinical team.

W-2 Fee-for-Service Occupational Therapist
$60–$65 per 30-minute session

A flexible employee-based option for clinicians interested in maintaining a caseload without a traditional salaried schedule.

1099 Independent Contractor – Fee-for-Service
$65–$70 per 30-minute session
