Job description

GreenPoint Financial is seeking a financial writer/editor to write and copyedit white papers aimed at credit union and community bank executives, directors, and regulators. The current series addresses CECL (Current Expected Credit Loss) implementation and related balance-sheet risk topics, including asset-liability management (ALM). Each paper combines original data analysis, sourced from public regulatory filings such as NCUA 5300 Call Reports, with narrative argument, intended to be read by C-suite and board-level audiences at financial institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Draft original white paper content (typically 3,000-6,000 words per paper) from an outline, source data set, and framing brief provided by GreenPoint.
  • Copyedit and structurally edit drafts produced internally, tightening argument, correcting terminology, and ensuring consistency of voice across the series.
  • Work directly with data tables and chart outputs (regulatory call report data, GreenPoint's own platform analytics) to select, sequence, and caption the exhibits that best support each paper's argument.
  • Verify that every factual and numerical claim in a draft is sourced and internally consistent with the underlying data set before it moves to internal review.
  • Apply editorial and citation standards consistently across drafts.
  • Turn around edits on a defined schedule tied to GreenPoint's publication calendar.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated professional writing and editing experience covering U.S. financial markets, banking, or credit unions — trade publication, research/analyst, regulatory, or agency background all qualify.
  • Working understanding of core credit union and community bank concepts: balance sheet structure, net interest margin, interest rate risk/ALM basics, and credit loss reserving (CECL) at a conceptual level.
  • Comfortable working from data tables and chart exhibits: able to read a table of financial results and describe what it shows in accurate, non-misleading prose.
  • Strong command of written American English, house style, and long-form editorial structure.
  • Availability during U.S. Eastern business hours for review calls and turnaround windows

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience writing for or about regulated financial institutions (bank, credit union, or fintech) in a compliance, risk, or research-adjacent capacity.
  • Familiarity with NCUA or FDIC call report data, or comparable regulatory financial disclosures, even if not the U.S. filings specifically.
  • Experience producing white papers, research notes, or long-form thought leadership for a financial services audience, as distinct from general content marketing.

Specifics: Work from home in Israel on a flexible schedule - but must be available during U.S. Eastern business hours. Payment is per white paper, as an Israeli employee or consultant.

To apply, send your CV to [email protected], along with a relevant writing sample.
