Description
Provides instruction, leadership and maintains a safe environment while conducting and monitoring effective and enjoyable group exercise classes. Preferred candidate should have a MOSSA Group Power Certification or a Mat Pilates certification.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF A GROUP FITNESS INSTRUCTOR:
Motivate and lead class participants.
Create positive lasting memories for each participant, each day.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE A GROUP FITNESS INSTRUCTOR:
18 years of age or older.
Must have solid fitness industry knowledge.
Possesses mature judgment and sound decision-making.
Demonstrated customer service and communication skills.
Minimum 1 year of experience teaching group fitness classes preferred.
Ability to motivate others in the areas of self-awareness and self-confidence.
Must be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.
Current “specialty class” certifications as required: such as MOSSA, Silver Sneakers, Zumba, Mat Pilates, etc.
Demonstrated ability to teach group exercise in a proficient manner. Ability to instruct and observe participants using proper exercise techniques.
Required Certifications: current state approved First Aid and CPR/AED, current, National Certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in-group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise Certification.
