AECOM is seeking Construction Interns to be based in Chicago, Illinois.
This position is expected to begin in May 2027.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Assist construction inspectors, engineers, and project managers with daily project activities.
Observe construction operations to gain familiarity with construction methods, materials, equipment, and safety practices.
Support field inspections to verify work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
Maintain daily reports, field notes, photographs, and project documentation.
Assist with quantity measurements and progress tracking for construction activities.
Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting notes and action item summaries.
Monitor project schedules and provide updates to project team members.
Help review material delivery tickets, inspection records, and testing reports.
Assist with construction staking verification, site observations, and documentation of field conditions.
Support quality assurance and quality control activities under the supervision of experienced staff.
Learn and apply industry standards, construction specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Perform general administrative and technical tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field and must have completed at least three years of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is an advantage.
