The purpose of Market Supervision is to ensure that trading is orderly and efficient, and in compliance with the Exchange’s rules (“the rules”) and to identify activity which may indicate market abuse as outlined in the UK Financial Conduct Authority’s Code of Market Conduct and MAR.

The role reports into the Head of Market Supervision.

Purpose of the role

This role will be responsible for co-leading and managing Market Supervision coverage for LSE’s 24x5 extended trading model, ensuring that trading remains orderly, efficient and compliant with the relevant trading venue rules during non-UK working hours.

Primary responsibilities include supervision of live market activity, management of trading halts, cancellations and disorderly trading events, interaction with member firms and internal stakeholders, investigation of unusual trading patterns, and development of procedures, playbooks and controls for LSE 24.

Act as a senior Market Supervision presence during non-UK working hours, providing experienced judgement and management of trading halts, trade cancellations, potential disorderly trading conditions and other market events.
Drive the development, testing and continuous improvement of procedures, playbooks and escalation paths for overnight and cross-time-zone supervision.
Provide senior input into surveillance coverage, controls calibration, market event handling and operational readiness for LSE 24
Support readiness activity ahead of launch, including scenario testing, dress rehearsals, incident simulations, communication templates, regulatory evidence packs and lessons-learned processes.
Interact with member firms and market participants on supervisory matters, including rule application, trade queries, incident follow-up and requests for information.
Identify, investigate and escalate unusual trading patterns or potential market abuse indicators, including preparation of appropriate internal analysis and potential regulatory referral materials.
Contribute to future expansion planning for LSE 24, including any broadening beyond the initial ETP scope, further operating model refinement, and potential interaction with future digital market infrastructure.
