Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Data Analyst to support day-to-day reporting for our fall programs and help support the data infrastructure behind them. This role reports to the Product Manager, who manages workload, performance, and professional development, and receives functional priorities and day-to-day direction from the Associate Data Solutions Director, who assigns and reviews participant outreach and reporting work.

The Data Analyst acts as the first contact for data questions from other departments. This role will field requests for counts and lists from internal teams and partners, building and iterating on the standard reports staff rely on, and pulling the participant outreach lists targeted by our SMS/email communication. This role is responsible for ensuring that every list is accurate and that the right people receive the right messaging.

A strong candidate is comfortable in SQL and BigQuery, organized enough to ensure requests do not go unaddressed, and able to explain things in an easily digestible manner to non-technical staff. Fall program schedules are intense, and this role is part of the team that keeps the program running through them.

JOB DUTIES
Triage and fulfill incoming data requests from internal departments and partners, including ad hoc counts and user lists, validating figures and flagging numbers that don't hold up.
Work with the Product Manager and Associate Data Solutions Director to prototype and implement standard reports that will be used by staff and partners.
Pull participant outreach lists the Associate Data Solutions Director specifies using our in-house software Rally and/or BigQuery
Coordinate with the Associate Solutions Engineer on digital infrastructure and suppression logic Use participant activity data to determine if our outreach efforts are effective, and to proactively identify opportunities to increase our impact Document recurring queries and report logic so they can be reused throughout the program.
Use LLMs to create skills and workflows that help other departments explore and analyze their data.

SUCCESS MEANS
Success in this role means requests from internal teams and partners are triaged and fulfilled promptly; participant outreach lists sent to participants are accurate, correctly suppressed, and validated before going out; recurring queries and report logic are documented and reusable; and program leadership can trust the numbers this role produces without re-checking them.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong understanding of SQL: joins, aggregations, window functions, and the ability to debug others’ queries
Experience with Google BigQuery or another data warehouse
Able to execute multiple tasks and deliver by given deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information in an accessible way to non-technical staff
Commitment to fighting for progressive electoral outcomes
Thrives in a highly-collaborative remote work environment. This position is entirely virtual and requires access to reliable internet and proficiency in online platforms and tools (Google workspace, Zoom, Slack, etc.)
Nice to have: prior campaign/organizing experience
Nice to have: Experience using LLM tools to speed up analysis or build reusable workflows
