Job description
Description
Try cases. Don't just settle them.
Dordick Law Corporation, a mid-sized catastrophic personal injury law firm, seeks a seasoned attorney who is proficient in moving cases through litigation. This is not a file-pushing job. You will not be handed 200 files and told to move paper. You will carry a focused caseload of significant matters and work them up for trial from the inside out.
The ideal candidate will have at least five years' experience in personal injury law, a solid understanding of California-based practice and procedure, write clearly, argue cogently, and think strategically.
Compensation: $150,000–$180,000 base salary, plus a percentage of net fees earned on your cases. Your results show up in your paycheck.
What you'll be doing
Managing your own caseload of catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and sexual assault matters from workup through trial
Building the case: written and expert discovery, PMK and defense expert depositions, IMEs, site inspections, damages development
Drafting and arguing motions — and opposing the defense's
Retaining and preparing experts, and preparing your witnesses and clients to testify
Mediations, MSCs, and settlement negotiations from a position of trial readiness
Trying cases, first chair or second chair alongside Gary A. Dordick, — a CAALA Hall of Fame Inductee.
Mentoring and working closely with our trial support and case management teams
What we're looking for
Active member of the California State Bar in good standing
5+ years of plaintiff-side personal injury litigation experience
Substantial deposition and law-and-motion experience; trial experience strongly preferred
Command of the California Code of Civil Procedure, Evidence Code, and local rules
Strong writing, sharp judgment, and the instinct to find the pressure point in a case
Genuine care for injured clients and the discipline to prepare relentlessly on their behalf
Why Dordick Law
Real trial opportunity. We take cases to verdict. You will get in front of juries here.
Upside on your own work. Base salary plus a percentage of net fees on your cases — your results show up in your compensation.
Cases worth your time. High-value, high-stakes matters with meaningful facts and defendants who fight.
Support that matters. Experienced paralegals, case managers, in-house investigation and trial support, and the resources to fund a case properly.
Direct access to a trial lawyer's trial lawyer. You'll learn from and try cases with Gary Dordick.
Benefits: Health/dental/vision, 401(k), Life/ADD insurance, EAP, electric vehicle charging, PTO/sick time, bar dues and the opportunity to attend the Dordick Trial College.
