As Campaign Manager, you will partner closely with the Executive Director, clergy, and campaign volunteers to help drive a transformational fundraising effort in Rodef Sholom’s history. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence campaign strategy, build relationships with transformational philanthropists, and help shape the future of an organization with over 1,100 member households.
This is an opportunity for a development professional who is both strategic and highly organized, someone who can manage complexity, manage operational and management systems, build strong relationships, and keep a major campaign moving forward with clarity and momentum. The Campaign Manager will direct campaign implementation, ensuring that priorities are clear, stakeholders are aligned, and progress is consistently advancing.
This is an in-person position with the opportunity for hybrid flexibility. Candidates must reside within a commutable distance from San Rafael, CA.
Primary Responsibilities
Campaign Planning, Execution, and Reporting
Lead day-to-day execution of the capital campaign across the quiet, major gift, and public phases
Manage the campaign prospect pipeline in alignment with the overall campaign goals and timeline
Monitor progress toward campaign goals and benchmarks, recommending strategy adjustments as needed
Develop and maintain clear, consistent campaign reports for staff and volunteer leadership
Pipeline Management and Donor Relations
Develop cultivation and solicitation strategies; manage prospect lists, research, and briefing materials
Prepare donor communications, proposals, and briefing materials, and support coordination and follow-up for donor engagement
Ensure accurate recording and maintenance of donor and prospect data
Advise on and participate in major gift solicitations as appropriate
Leadership and Volunteer Management
Collaborate with the Executive Director and volunteer leadership to continue shaping and implementing the strategic direction of the campaign.
Equip volunteers for donor meetings by preparing briefing materials, talking points, solicitation strategies, and clear follow-up steps.
Develop strategy, agendas, materials, and talking points for campaign committee meetings.
Facilitate committee meetings and ensure timely follow-up, setting actionable steps for volunteers and staff partners.
Communications and Events
Develop and revise campaign materials and donor communications in partnership with Marketing team
Assist with donor acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship strategies and support cultivation events
Other Responsibilities
Maintain positive working relationships and strict confidentiality
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Occasional evening and weekend work required related to the campaign
Who You Are
We are looking for candidates who have:
Three to five years of progressive fundraising or development experience with a focus on operations and management.. Major gift fundraising and endowment campaign management is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree AND/OR credential such as Project Management certification Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).
Demonstrated experience in prospect research, cultivation, solicitation planning, and donor stewardship
Success managing or supporting others in relationships for six- and seven-figure gifts
Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, preference for candidates with experience writing and presenting complex funding proposals
Outstanding interpersonal skills and experience working with boards, volunteers, donors, and consultants
Experience at a synagogue, Jewish nonprofit, or faith-based organization strongly preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and CRM/donor databases (e.g., ShulCloud, Raiser's Edge, Salesforce), with strong attention to data accuracy.
Experience with volunteer management
High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in the workplace.
