Bnai Mitzvah Coordinator

B’nai Mitzvah Program Coordinator
Astoria Center of Israel (ACI) is seeking a thoughtful, organized, and collaborative B’nai Mitzvah Program Coordinator to help develop and launch a meaningful, inclusive, and engaging B’nai Mitzvah program for our students and families.

The Coordinator will work closely with the Rabbi and Education Director to create a personalized and welcoming experience for each student, while building a strong sense of community among families preparing for B’nai Mitzvah. We are located in Astoria, Queens New York.

Key Responsibilities
Program Development

Help develop and launch ACI’s Inclusive B’nai Mitzvah program, including structure, timelines, expectations, and family communications.
Develop resources, systems, and learning opportunities that can be used from year to year.
Help create student cohorts and individualized pathways based on students’ skills, interests, and needs.
Build excitement and community around the B’nai Mitzvah experience.
Create an inclusive experience for all children with training and guidence from Matan (https://mataninc.org/) through a UJA grant.

Student & Family Support

Serve as a key point of contact for students and families throughout the B’nai Mitzvah process.
Meet with students to understand their strengths, interests, skills, and areas where additional support may be helpful.
Meet with families to discuss goals, expectations, and their child’s individual pathway.
Provide ongoing communication, guidance, and support to families.
Offer scheduled meetings or office hours for students and families.

Collaboration

Work closely with the Rabbi and Education Director on student progress and program development.
Coordinate with teachers, tutors, and other educators involved in the B’nai Mitzvah experience.
Help create a supportive community among students and families.

Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:

Passionate about Jewish education and creating meaningful B’nai Mitzvah experiences.
Warm, approachable, and comfortable working with children and families.
Organized and able to manage multiple students and family needs.
Collaborative and able to work effectively with clergy, educators, and volunteers.
Experienced in Jewish education, B’nai Mitzvah preparation, tutoring, youth programming, or a related field.
Committed to creating an inclusive and accessible experience for students with a range of learning styles, abilities, and backgrounds.
