Job description

The Tax Graduate – Law Track participates in a structured two-year rotational program designed to develop future tax professionals through exposure to tax planning, compliance, provision, indirect tax, and tax-related business initiatives. The role supports U.S. tax activities across multiple business lines and provides opportunities to contribute to strategic transactions, reorganizations, regulatory analysis, and business operations.

Working closely with Tax, Finance, Legal, and external advisors, the successful candidate will develop a strong foundation in tax law while gaining practical experience in how tax decisions impact financial reporting, business strategy, and operational performance.

Operates within a U.S.-based tax organization supporting a diverse multi-energy portfolio of affiliates.
Exposure to strategic transactions, restructurings, acquisitions, and ongoing business operations.
Works across multiple tax disciplines to understand how tax decisions influence compliance, reporting, and operational outcomes.
Regular interaction with cross-functional stakeholders, including Tax, Finance, Legal, and external advisors.

Rotational Development Assignments
During the program, participants will rotate through key tax disciplines, including:

Compliance & Tax Provision

Support preparation and review of tax return reporting processes.
Assist with tax provision activities and financial reporting analyses.
Develop an understanding of effective tax rate (ETR) calculations, deferred taxes, and tax accounting principles.
Gain exposure to the interaction between tax planning and financial statement reporting.
Indirect Tax

Support activities related to sales and use tax, property tax, and other indirect tax obligations.
Develop an understanding of operational tax impacts and business processes.
Assist in evaluating tax considerations affecting day-to-day business operations.

Professional Development
Manage multiple assignments and project deadlines while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
Collaborate effectively with Tax, Finance, Legal, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
Tax Planning & Advisory
Support the Tax Planning team in delivering tax advisory services to U.S. affiliates across various business lines.
Conduct tax research and summarize technical tax considerations for review by senior tax professionals.
Assist in the analysis of corporate transactions, reorganizations, acquisitions, dispositions, and other strategic initiatives.
Support the preparation of tax planning presentations, structure analyses, memoranda, and related documentation.
Participate in planning discussions to develop an understanding of tax-efficient structures and associated business considerations.
Monitor and summarize developments in U.S. federal, state, and relevant international tax legislation and regulations.
Transaction & Project Support
Assist in reviewing transaction documents and coordinating information requests with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
Support planning initiatives through data gathering, analysis, and validation of key assumptions.
Identify data inconsistencies, potential risks, or issues and communicate findings appropriately.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of tax knowledge-sharing resources and documentation.

Accountabilities

Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) required, Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation preferred
Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret technical tax concepts and synthesize clear, structured conclusions
Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with numerical data, including ability to organize, analyze, and validate data sets
Ability to connect tax considerations to business, financial, and operational outcomes, avoiding analysis in a purely technical vacuum
Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts in an understandable manner
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all deliverables
Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Proactive approach, including willingness to ask questions, identify issues, and follow through on assigned work
Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across Tax, Finance, Legal, and business teams
Strong organizational skills and ability to structure workstreams, timelines, and deliverables
