THE POSITION
As a Maintenance Repairman 2 with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), you will help ensure that the Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center remains a welcoming environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position involves hands-on repair and maintenance work that keeps the Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center operating smoothly. The role covers a wide range of tasks that support the function and upkeep of facility buildings and equipment. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

Carpentry Work: Perform carpentry tasks such as repairing doors and furniture, fabricating partitions, and using power tools
Electrical Repairs: Install and repair electrical circuits, outlets, lighting fixtures, fans, and motors
Plumbing Tasks: Repair plumbing fixtures, clear clogged drains, and install pipe for water and steam lines
Building Comfort Maintenance: Maintain and repair heating, cooling, and refrigeration units of various types
Groundskeeping Work: Cut grass, trim shrubbery, perform landscaping tasks, and clear snow and debris from outdoor areas
Safety Practices: Follow safety procedures, report hazards, maintain tools, and support facility quality improvement efforts

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
Work hours are 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:00 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:

You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirement:

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

Willingness to work in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania
Formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade
Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment
Experience repairing heating lines and fan coil units
Experience in plumbing repairs
Experience in electrical repairs
Experience maintaining and repairing air conditioning and heating units

Legal Requirements:

A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
