Steam Fitter's Helper

Key Relationships: Relationships will be fostered with other DSF management and skilled trade staff.

Responsibilities

Assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of piping, controls and equipment for heating systems, compressed air systems, refrigerating systems, air conditioning systems, steam and hot water systems, fire suppression systems, cooling systems, and sprinkler systems.
Assists in the installation of boilers, feedwater, vacuum and condensate equipment, fuel oil piping, and related auxiliary equipment.
Assists in the layout of work from plans, specifications, and sketches.
Assists with welding and brazing equipment when needed.

Qualification Requirements:

Minimum

1. Three years of full-time satisfactory mechanical experience as a Steam Fitter's Helper acquired within the last ten years; or

2. At least one and one-half years of experience as described in "1" above plus sufficient training of a relevant nature acquired in an approved trade, vocational or technical high school to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of approved trade, vocational or technical high school.

License Requirement

A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York may be required for appointment to positions in certain agencies. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
