What We’re Looking For:

The right person is a strategic fundraising thinker and campaign leader who can translate organizational priorities into clear fundraising strategies, manage multi-channel campaigns, use data to guide decisions, and coordinate people and resources to move complex initiatives forward.

You understand how segmentation, messaging, stewardship, timing, and performance analysis work together to strengthen fundraising results, and you can partner effectively with the CEO, Board members, colleagues, and volunteers to execute thoughtful campaigns.

RESPONSABILITIES & DUTIES:

Philanthropy & Campaign Strategy

Partner with the CEO to develop and implement CCRC’s annual fundraising strategy, priorities, goals, and measures of success
Develop an annual campaign that integrates fundraising appeals, renewals, stewardship, donor communications, special campaigns, events, and engagement initiatives
Lead multichannel fundraising campaign strategy and planning across email, direct mail, digital, social media, peer-to-peer, and other platforms
Analyze fundraising and campaign performance, identify trends and opportunities, and use results to strengthen future strategy
Identify opportunities to acquire, retain, renew, upgrade, and reactivate donors and expand CCRC’s philanthropic community
Oversee the philanthropy operations and marketing associates to ensure campaign data, tracking, reporting, and follow-up support strategic decision-making
Prepare fundraising reports, campaign updates, and actionable information to support the CEO, Development Committee, and Board members
Bring current fundraising, direct-response, digital engagement, and nonprofit campaign best practices to CCRC’s development program

Philanthropy Communications & Content Strategy

Lead development communications strategy, planning, and coordination in support of fundraising, stewardship, and engagement goals
Oversee CCRC’s annual and current development impact reports, working across the organization to identify the stories, visuals, and statistics that best demonstrate impact
Establish key messages and communication priorities for fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, special initiatives, and other development efforts
Create CEO and Board materials, including donor correspondence, talking points, presentations, campaign updates, and other communications that support fundraising and engagement
Maintain high standards for voice, tone, accuracy, consistency, and audience relevance across development communications

Donor Strategy & Stewardship

Design a year-round donor stewardship strategy, including timely, personalized communications that help donors understand their impact and deepen their relationship with CCRC
Participate in select donor meetings and relationship-building opportunities
Plan and steward donor visits during the summer camp season
Create and oversee donor and alumni stewardship events throughout the year
Support the Legacy Donor program through communications, stewardship initiatives, events, and engagement strategy

Board & Volunteer Leadership

Partner with the CEO, Board Chair, and Development Committee leadership to set campaign strategy, priorities, and goals
Serve as the lead staff for the Development Committee of the Board
Prepare campaign updates, fundraising analysis, presentations, talking points, and Board and committee meeting materials
Equip Board members and volunteers with the messaging, tools, information, and follow-up needed for fundraising and community engagement
Develop opportunities for volunteer leaders to serve as ambassadors and connectors within the broader CCRC community
Further strengthen a culture of philanthropy throughout the Board and organization
Alumni & Community Engagement

Oversee the Alumni Engagement & 40th Anniversary Coordinator to align alumni engagement with organizational and philanthropic goals
Move alumni and community members from engagement to volunteerism, leadership, and philanthropic participation
Collaborate on alumni, donor, and community events that create meaningful connection and stewardship

Lead & Collaborate

Oversee the Philanthropy Operations Associate, Marketing Associate, and Alumni Engagement & 40th Anniversary Coordinator
Collaborate with Finance Team to ensure fundraising reporting, gift processing, reconciliation, and donor recognition are accurate and timely
Oversee the department budget, planning calendar, goals, dashboards, and progress reporting
Create systems, responsibilities, timelines, and processes that help the philanthropy team work effectively
Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO and senior leadership on philanthropy, communications, engagement, and organizational positioning

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, business, or a related field is a plus
7+ years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, communications, digital marketing, campaign strategy, advancement, or related work
Demonstrated success planning and executing fundraising or engagement campaigns
Exceptional writing, editing, messaging, and storytelling skills
Strong understanding of fundraising strategy and donor stewardship
Strong project-management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders, timelines, and deadlines
Experience using CRM and fundraising data to segment audiences, inform strategy, and evaluate campaign performance
Comfortable working directly with CEOs, senior leadership, Board members, donors, and volunteers
Ability to translate leadership priorities into clear strategy and executable plans
Experience leading and developing staff
Strong analytical and presentation skills
Collaborative, flexible, thoughtful, and proactive working style
Familiarity with Jewish communal organizations, overnight camp, or mission-driven nonprofit work is a plus
Ability to attend occasional evening and weekend events, travel periodically to CCRC’s Waynesboro campus during the fall, winter, and spring, and spend additional time on campus during the summer camp season

Work Environment & Schedule

Year-Round full-time position based in CCRC’s North Bethesda office during fall, winter and spring
On-site in Waynesboro at least 4-5 days per 7-day week during the summer
Occasional evening and weekend programs, board meetings and donor/community events

The Director of Philanthropy Campaigns & Communication Strategy reports to the CEO.
