Job description
Role Overview
The Insurance Product Analyst sits at the intersection of actuarial product development and program configuration. This role owns work across the full lifecycle of bringing an insurance product to market, from rate indications and pricing support, through SERFF filings and regulatory approval, to building and configuring the resulting rates, rules, and forms directly in Authentic’s policy administration system (PAS).
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants exposure to both the actuarial and technical/configuration sides of insurance product development, working closely with senior actuarial and program development teammates as they grow into more independent ownership of builds and filings.
Job Responsibilities
Actuarial & Filing
You'll start by supporting senior actuarial teammates on these workflows and learning the domain as you go, growing into more independent ownership over time.
Support senior actuaries with loss analysis and data review to evaluate product performance and trends, and assist in developing rate indications and pricing support
Learn and support insurance product development end to end, including rate, rule, and form work
Assist with state insurance filings across multiple lines of business in SERFF, learning the filing process from development through submission and response to regulatory objections
Maintain filing documentation and help organize filing-related data and materials
Conduct competitive and regulatory research to support insurance filings and product development
Help prepare supporting documentation used in actuarial analyses and regulatory submissions
Program Build & Configuration
Build and configure rates, rules, and forms directly in the PAS, translating actuarial rate development into live program configuration
Resolve inbound Operations requests across endorsements, build configuration, class mappings, and form attachments
Use GitHub to make and ship configuration changes to carrier programs, tenants, products, and coverages
Support senior teammates on active builds by owning discrete sub-tasks such as class code mapping, form attachment conditions, and QA testing in staging
Work on bug fixes and basic components of programs in the PAS, with guidance from senior Program Developers
Required Skills and Experience
We are looking for thoughtful individuals that demonstrate skills that reflect a proactive and strategic approach to problem resolution. This is an entry-level role and we will train you on the actuarial, filing, and configuration work end to end. Prior experience with insurance, SERFF, or technical/configuration systems is not required; some exposure is a plus, but curiosity and a fast learning curve matter more.
Effective project management skills with the ability to manage, prioritize, and effectively meet deadlines
Proactive and positive verbal and written communication skills; willing to collaborate in a team environment
Demonstrate skills that reflect strong attention to detail; demonstrate skills that reflect a proactive and strategic approach to problem resolution; demonstrate skills that reflect strong judgement
Excellent computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a plus)
Comfortable with, and excited to learn, technical and configuration systems — you don't need a software engineering background, but you should be unintimidated by digging into new tools and platforms
Detail oriented and highly organized
Strong problem solving, time management, and multi-tasking skills
