Insurance Defense Attorney

Responsibilities:
Defend insurance carriers, policyholders, and corporate clients in civil litigation matters
Manage a caseload of insurance defense files from inception through resolution, including trial
Draft and argue motions, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents
Conduct depositions, examinations before trial (EBTs), and witness interviews
Perform legal research and provide strategic case assessments and coverage opinions
Negotiate settlements and liaise with insurance carriers, adjusters, and clients
Appear in New York state and/or federal court for hearings, conferences, and trials

Requirements:

Active admission to the New York State Bar
2+ years of experience in insurance defense, civil litigation, or related practice area
Familiarity with general liability, premises liability, auto liability, or related lines of coverage
Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
