THE OPPORTUNITY
Iron Bow Technologies is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator – OpenShift Virtualization to support the day-to-day administration, monitoring, and operational support of an enterprise Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization environment and its underlying infrastructure.
In this role, you will help maintain system availability, performance, security, and compliance across Linux and Windows environments while supporting virtual machine migrations from VMware to OpenShift Virtualization. You will work closely with engineering and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot issues, maintain system health, automate administrative tasks, and support scheduled migration activities.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT
Administer and support enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows operating systems across VMware vSphere and Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization environments.
Support the migration of virtual machines and workloads between virtualization platforms.
Monitor system health, availability, performance, logging, and alerts using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Nagios, or SolarWinds.
Manage user accounts, access controls, system configurations, and security hardening requirements.
Perform patching, updates, and firmware lifecycle management across supported infrastructure.
Apply, maintain, and document security compliance requirements, including STIGs, CIS benchmarks, SCAP, and DISA compliance standards and tools.
Troubleshoot system performance, networking, storage, and infrastructure integration issues within virtualized environments.
Use Ansible and other automation tools to streamline provisioning, configuration management, and ongoing system administration.
Develop and maintain scripts using BASH, Python, or PowerShell to automate repetitive administrative tasks.
Partner with engineering teams to troubleshoot complex issues and support infrastructure changes and improvements.
Maintain accurate technical documentation related to system configurations, procedures, compliance, and operational activities.
Support scheduled migration cutovers, including evening and weekend work as required.
SKILLS THAT DRIVE SUCCESS
5+ years of system administration experience within enterprise or government environments.
Strong experience administering enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows operating systems.
Experience supporting virtualized environments, including VMware vSphere and Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization.
Hands-on experience supporting virtual machine or workload migrations between virtualization technologies.
Experience with user administration, access controls, system hardening, patching, and firmware lifecycle management.
Ability to troubleshoot system performance, networking, and storage integration issues within complex virtualized environments.
Experience with Ansible or similar configuration management and automation tools.
Scripting experience using BASH, Python, or PowerShell.
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Willingness and ability to support scheduled evening and weekend migration cutover activities.
U.S. citizenship required.
Ability to obtain and maintain the required VA Public Trust background investigation.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Up to 10% travel may be required.
