Network Engineer - IT Role:

As a member of the company’s Corporate Operations Information Technology team, the Network Engineer - IT will be responsible for a variety of IP, telecom, and documentation support. Most of the job duties will be related to ongoing support and maintenance activities with some work to support activities of Sr. Engineer projects to upgrade or expand the IT network.

What You’ll Do:

Team orientation, working well as part of a group.
Work as a member of IT team to provide day to day support on all network related request fulfillment, incident response, documentation, and follow-up.
Provide 8 x 5 support of the IT telecom and network infrastructure environment (LAN, WAN, wireless, etc.).
Assist deployment of new technologies or upgrade existing capabilities as assigned.
Continuous monitoring and response to alarms for all network equipment using a variety of tools for incident handling and remediation.
Continuous grooming of overall network to improve network reliability and scalability
Assist Senior Engineers with new datacenter build-outs, expansions, and hardware refresh projects.
Assist maintenance of network documentation to include diagrams, spreadsheets, databases, and process documents.
Assist with audits and updates of devices for accuracy of device descriptions, port configurations, monitoring settings, etc.
Assist with grooming of overall network to improve network security, reliability and scalability.
Assist with management of internal IPv4 and IPv6 address database
On-call rotation as needed cycled between the Systems, Network and Security teams.
Assist with changes in approved and scheduled maintenance windows (i.e. software upgrades, hardware replacement, migrations, etc.)
Assist to maintain network equipment inventory database (quantity, sparing, part numbers, serial numbers, etc.) on high value and critical components.
Occasional travel (20%) for onsite support, datacenter build-out/expansions, or for training as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must be able to work during normal business hours, and assist with changes as necessary during maintenance windows as scheduled for nights and weekends
Some knowledge of switched network topologies including VLANs, trunking, spanning tree, port configuration, CDP, stacking, redundancy, networking architecture, etc.
Some knowledge of routed network topologies including OSPF/BGP, HSRP/VRRP, QoS. (Cisco, etc.)
Some knowledge of troubleshooting and network tools such as ping, traceroute, telnet, nslookup, etc.
Understanding of the OSI Reference Model
Some experience with network monitoring, management and secure authentication protocols and tools such as TACACS+/RADIUS. (Cisco ISE, ACS, etc.)
Some overall understanding of information security practices and trends.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Written and verbal communications skills
Understanding of copper and fiber cabling and cable management
Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis in Excel and Visio
A knack for grace under pressure and a sense of urgency that puts the customer first.
Some understanding of monitoring/alerting methodologies and tools a plus. (Splunk, SolarWinds, Cacti, Scrutinizer, etc.)
Some understanding of load balancing and tools a plus. (F5, etc.)
Some understanding of network security design, wireless security, intrusion prevention/detection, firewall architecture, SIEM, encryption, investigations, forensics, and incident management response a plus.
Education/Experience:

College associates degree or trade school preferred or equivalent work/life experience
Minimum 2 years IT experience with some network background
Entry professional certifications preferred (CCENT, Network+, CompTIA, etc.)

Compensation: Compensation for this role includes a base salary between $84,400 and $85,000 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus and equity, based upon individual and company performance.
