PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Building Maintenance

Perform routine maintenance and light repairs involving walls, floors, ceilings, doors, locks, sinks, fixtures, furniture, and other building components.
Perform painting, plastering, light handy work, and floor maintenance within the employee's skill level.
Perform minor troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments of locks on doors, cabinets, and desks.
Safely use hand and power tools.
Identify projects requiring a higher-skilled or licensed tradesperson and report them to the supervisor.
Move furniture, equipment, and supplies between network locations as directed.
Change HVAC filters when required and report mechanical malfunctions.
Maintain assigned tools and equipment safely and properly.

Environmental Services / Housekeeping Support

Maintain interior and exterior areas free of debris, including snow, leaves, boxes, garbage, and other hazards.
Clean assigned rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, stairways, parking areas, water fountains, and other work areas.
Perform floor care, including stripping and waxing, as assigned and trained.
Handle general waste, recycling, and medical waste according to Betances policies and established procedures.
Use required PPE and follow infection-control and workplace-safety procedures in clinical areas.

Fire & Life Safety

Perform assigned fire/life-safety checks and inspections in accordance with facility procedures.
Monitor and report deficiencies involving fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, exits, doors, and other life-safety conditions.
Maintain required fire/life-safety inspection and maintenance logs.
Participate in fire drills and emergency exercises as assigned.
Immediately report fire/life-safety deficiencies, alarms, impairments, or unsafe conditions and follow established emergency procedures.
Perform fire-watch or other regulated fire-safety duties only when appropriately trained, authorized, and/or certified as required.

Security & Access Control

Monitor assigned entrances, exits, and designated areas to help maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
Activate/deactivate building alarms and open/close gates and facilities according to established procedures.
Monitor access to restricted areas as directed.
Report suspicious activity, unauthorized access, security incidents, or threats to the appropriate supervisor and emergency authorities when required.
Follow workplace-violence, emergency response, and security procedures.

Emergency Preparedness

Respond to facility emergencies according to the Emergency Preparedness Manual and site procedures.
Assist with emergency response, evacuation, building access, and other assigned emergency-management activities.
Know the location of emergency equipment, exits, utility shutoffs, and emergency communication resources applicable to assigned locations.
Report emergency conditions and document incidents or corrective actions as required.

Documentation & Preventive Maintenance

Maintain accurate logs and documentation for work orders, repairs, building alarms, fire extinguishers, inspections, waste management, and other assigned facility activities.
Complete work orders and inspection records accurately and within required timeframes.
Report recurring equipment or building problems and assist with preventive-maintenance activities.
Protect patient, employee, operational, and facility information encountered during work.
