Job description
Description
Be part of the team from day! If you've seen the viral scalp care videos on social media (mostly in Korea!) that's what we're bringing here. Join me as we launch the company from day 1 with room for advancement as we go! We are seeking a Scalp Care Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role involves consulting with clients regarding their hair and scalp health, performing scalp treatments, and providing exceptional client experiences. Because hands-on scalp manipulations, shampooing, and rinsing are part of the role, an active New York Cosmetology License is required. If you also have trichology certification or experience, that’s a plus!
Note: This position focuses on non-medical scalp health and hair services. We do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. Clients requiring medical intervention are referred to licensed healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Client Consultation & Scalp Analysis
Greet clients warmly, review their hair and scalp concerns, and conduct visual and microscopic scalp assessments (using AI-assisted tools) for non-medical insights.
Provide clients with personalized scalp care recommendations based on their lifestyle, hair routines, and scalp analysis results.
Scalp Treatments & Hair Services
Cleanse, exfoliate, and treat the scalp using specialized topical products (ampoules, cleansers, serums, steam treatments).
Rinse and dry hair (blow-dry or specialized equipment), ensuring a comfortable and efficient experience for the client.
Maintain strict hygiene and sanitization protocols in line with NY cosmetology regulations.
Customer Experience & Education
Offer high-touch customer service, building trust and addressing concerns with empathy and professionalism.
Educate clients on at-home scalp care routines, product usage, and maintenance tips.
Provide thorough aftercare advice and schedule appropriate follow-up appointments as needed.
Product Recommendations & Sales
Understand our product lines (shampoos, tonics, scalp serums) and make tailored recommendations to customers.
Drive retail sales by demonstrating product benefits and delivering results-oriented experiences.
Team Collaboration & Studio Upkeep
Work closely with fellow specialists and trichology consultants (if applicable) to deliver seamless client experiences.
Keep treatment areas and equipment clean, organized, and stocked.
Participate in ongoing training, workshops, and team meetings to stay current on best practices in scalp care.
Qualifications
Required: Active New York State Cosmetology License
- This covers all hair/scalp manipulations such as shampooing, rinsing, scalp massage, and blow-drying.
Excellent Communication & Interpersonal Skills
Not required: scalp care experience -- we will provide training on protocols
Someone who wants to go with a startup company and excited at opportunity for advancement is a huge plus!
- Ability to build rapport, instill confidence, and create a welcoming environment for clients.- Passion for helping clients achieve better scalp health and a willingness to learn - Familiarity with scalp-focused services or previous hair treatment roles is a huge plus.- Comfort in recommending retail products and driving revenue through personalized solutions.
