Job description

Primary Function

The Community Outreach Coodinator strengthens engagement within Congregation Ner Tamid while building CNT’s visibility and relationships throughout Southern Nevada.

Working with clergy, staff, lay leaders, members, and community partners, this position leads communications, promotes programs and events, supports member engagement, and represents CNT in the broader community.

Responsibilities

Communications and Content

Develop and manage communications across email, newsletters, the website, social media, print materials, and other platforms.
Create clear, engaging, and accurate content that reflects CNT’s voice, values, and priorities.
Maintain a communications calendar for programs, events, holidays, campaigns, and organizational announcements.
Keep the CNT website current, accessible, and easy to navigate.
Manage social media content and maintain a consistent presence across platforms.
Gather program information, photos, stories, and other content from clergy, staff, and lay leaders.
Review communications for accuracy, consistency, grammar, and presentation before publication.
Use available data and feedback to improve communications and audience engagement.

Member Engagement

Develop communications that help members feel informed, welcomed, and connected to the congregation.
Support outreach to new, prospective, and existing members.
Identify opportunities to increase participation in worship, programs, volunteer activities, and congregational life.
Work with clergy, staff, and lay leaders to share member stories and highlight the impact of CNT’s work.
Respond professionally and promptly to communication and engagement inquiries.

Program and Event Promotion

Develop promotional plans and materials for worship services, educational programs, community events, fundraising activities, and other congregational initiatives.
Coordinate event communications, including announcements, registration information, reminders, and follow up.
Ensure programs and events are promoted through the appropriate channels and with sufficient advance notice.
Create or coordinate flyers, invitations, signage, presentations, and other event materials.
Collaborate with program leaders to understand intended audiences, communication needs, and desired outcomes.

Media, Community Relations, and Organizational Support

Represent CNT at community meetings, programs, and events as appropriate.
Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, interfaith partners, media contacts, and other stakeholders.
Identify opportunities to increase CNT’s visibility and involvement throughout Southern Nevada.
Draft press releases, community announcements, talking points, and other external communications.
Support sensitive communications in coordination with clergy and senior leadership.
Maintain organized communication files, templates, calendars, contact lists, and other resources.
Participate in staff meetings, planning meetings, major congregational programs, and community events as needed.

Qualifications

Skills

Solid, professional written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to create clear and engaging content for different audiences and platforms.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Experience with email communications, websites, social media, and digital platforms.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Sensitivity when communicating about lifecycle events, pastoral matters, religious observance, and confidential information.

Work Experience

The ideal candidate has several years of experience in communications, marketing, programs, education, community engagement, or a related area.

Experience working in a congregation, nonprofit organization, membership organization, or mission driven environment is preferred.

Familiarity with Jewish communal life, synagogue operations, the Jewish calendar, and Reform Judaism is strongly preferred. A willingness to learn is essential.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
