Job description

We are seeking a strategic, data-driven Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) with proven B2B SaaS experience to lead our go-to-market strategy, brand positioning, demand-generation engine, product marketing, and customer lifecycle marketing.

The CMO will be accountable for building a scalable, revenue-focused marketing organization that creates qualified pipeline, improves conversion across the buyer journey, supports sales productivity, strengthens customer retention, and accelerates annual recurring revenue (ARR) growth.

This executive will define how the company reaches, converts, expands, and retains its ideal customer profile (ICP). The successful candidate has a demonstrated record of leading B2B SaaS marketing at a growth-stage or established software company and can connect strategy to measurable outcomes—including pipeline, revenue, customer acquisition cost (CAC), customer lifetime value (LTV), retention, and marketing return on investment.

The CMO will partner closely with the CEO, CRO, VP of Sales, Product, Customer Success, Finance, and Revenue Operations teams to ensure the company’s go-to-market strategy, messaging, marketing investments, sales execution, and customer experience are aligned around sustainable, efficient growth. B2B SaaS CMOs commonly own brand, demand generation, communications, growth, team development, and cross-functional revenue alignment.

Responsibilities:

Develop and lead the company’s B2B SaaS marketing strategy, go-to-market plan, positioning, messaging, and demand-generation roadmap
Own marketing’s contribution to revenue, including marketing-sourced pipeline, marketing-influenced pipeline, qualified leads, conversion rates, customer acquisition cost, and return on marketing investment
Define and refine the ideal customer profile, buyer personas, buying committee, target segments, customer pain points, and differentiated value proposition
Build scalable demand-generation programs across paid search, paid social, content marketing, SEO, webinars, events, partnerships, email marketing, outbound-sales support, and account-based marketing (ABM)
Partner with Sales and Revenue Operations to establish funnel definitions, lead-scoring models, marketing and sales service-level agreements, pipeline reporting, attribution, and campaign-performance standards
Lead B2B SaaS product marketing, including market research, competitive intelligence, product positioning, pricing and packaging input, launches, sales enablement, customer proof points, and competitive battlecards
Improve website performance, conversion rate optimization, landing pages, organic search visibility, digital advertising efficiency, and lead-to-opportunity conversion
Build and manage customer lifecycle marketing programs that support onboarding, product adoption, expansion revenue, cross-sell, upsell, renewals, customer advocacy, and retention
Develop thought-leadership, content, customer-story, analyst-relations, public-relations, and brand programs that establish market credibility and category awareness
Lead marketing operations, including CRM and marketing-automation strategy, data quality, segmentation, campaign measurement, attribution, workflow design, and performance dashboards
Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain a high-performing marketing team across demand generation, product marketing, content, brand, growth, marketing operations, and lifecycle marketing
Manage external agencies, consultants, technology vendors, media partners, and marketing budgets with accountability for performance and cost efficiency
Present executive-level reporting on marketing performance, market opportunities, customer insights, budget allocation, pipeline health, revenue impact, and growth risks
Continuously test, learn, and improve channel mix, messaging, audience segmentation, conversion paths, sales enablement, and customer engagement programs
Qualifications:

15+ years of progressive marketing experience, including senior leadership or executive-level responsibility in a B2B SaaS, software, technology, or subscription-based business
5+ years leading B2B marketing teams, growth teams, demand-generation functions, product-marketing teams, or integrated marketing organizations
Proven track record of building and scaling a B2B SaaS demand-generation engine that delivers measurable pipeline, bookings, ARR growth, and improved marketing efficiency
Deep experience with B2B SaaS go-to-market strategy, product marketing, positioning, messaging, demand generation, digital acquisition, account-based marketing, and sales enablement
Demonstrated success working with Sales, Product, Customer Success, Finance, and Revenue Operations to improve full-funnel performance
Strong understanding of SaaS business metrics, including ARR, MRR, pipeline, bookings, CAC, LTV, CAC payback period, conversion rate, churn, net revenue retention, gross revenue retention, expansion revenue, and marketing ROI
Experience with B2B marketing technology and analytics platforms, such as CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, web analytics, attribution tools, customer-data platforms, and business-intelligence dashboards
Experience managing multi-channel demand-generation programs, including paid media, SEO, content, email nurture, webinars, events, partnerships, ABM, and customer marketing
Exceptional leadership, communication, strategic planning, financial analysis, and executive presentation skills
Ability to balance long-term brand building with near-term pipeline creation and revenue accountability
Qualifications:

Experience marketing enterprise SaaS, mid-market SaaS, vertical SaaS, cybersecurity, data, AI, cloud software, workflow software, fintech, HR technology, or a similar B2B technology category
Experience in a high-growth, venture-backed, private-equity-backed, or scaling software environment
Experience leading a company through a category-creation effort, major repositioning, new market entry, product launch, pricing change, or significant growth stage
Experience supporting sales-led, product-led growth (PLG), partner-led, channel-led, or hybrid go-to-market models
Experience with international go-to-market strategy or multi-segment SaaS customer acquisition
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related discipline; MBA is a plus
Key Attributes

Revenue-minded executive who treats marketing as a measurable growth function, not solely a brand function
Strategic leader who can define a compelling market narrative and translate it into executable growth plans
Analytical, highly accountable, and comfortable making investment decisions based on data
Strong collaborator who can align Sales, Product, Customer Success, Finance, and Revenue Operations around shared goals
Customer-focused leader with a deep understanding of B2B buying journeys and buying committees
Hands-on builder who can develop teams, systems, processes, and operating rhythms as the company scales
Clear, persuasive communicator who can influence executive stakeholders, customers, partners, and employees
