Job description
As an Electrical Designer/Drafter, your responsibilities will include:
1. Designing and drafting electrical systems for industrial and commercial buildings, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and security systems.
2. Performing complex electrical calculations such as load balancing, voltage drop, and sub-bank calculations.
3. Designing and specifying electrical conduits, wiring, and other components in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
4. Collaborating with architects, engineers, and other project team members to integrate electrical systems into overall building design.
5. Reviewing and revising designs and drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
6. Coordinating with contractors and suppliers to ensure the correct installation and operation of electrical systems.
7. Providing technical support and troubleshooting for electrical systems during construction and post-occupancy phases.
8. Continually updating knowledge of new technologies and industry trends to ensure our designs are cutting-edge and sustainable.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design and drafting, specifically in the construction industry.
2. Proficiency in using CAD software for electrical design and drafting.
3. In-depth knowledge of NEC Code and other relevant industry standards and regulations.
4. Experience with designing electrical systems for high performance buildings.
5. Familiarity with plumbing and mechanical systems, as they relate to electrical design.
6. Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with the ability to perform complex electrical calculations.
7. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
8. A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to anticipate and address potential issues before they arise.
9. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
