NCSY, a program of the Orthodox Union, connects with Jewish teens through innovative, cutting-edge social and recreational programs to develop a positive Jewish identity. NCSY inspires Jewish teens through informal Jewish education, retreats, and summer programs. NCSY empowers teens through leadership development and guidance to become passionately committed leaders of the Jewish community and instruments for positive change and renewal.
The Orthodox Union (OU) is one of the largest Orthodox Jewish organizations in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol, Ⓤ, is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.
Position Summary:
The Development Associate will help expand NCSY's presence across the Houston community by building meaningful, lasting relationships with community members, donors, prospects, and partners. Through strong relationship-building and development efforts, this role will help generate the critical funding needed to advance NCSY's mission of empowering Jewish teens of all backgrounds to find meaning, connection, and relevance in Judaism and Jewish life.
The Development Associate will play a key role in local and regional fundraising initiatives, with a particular focus on donor cultivation, one-on-one solicitations, and supporter stewardship. The ideal candidate has prior fundraising experience, professionally or as a volunteer, a strong desire to grow as a development professional, and a deep commitment to the Jewish community and the future of Jewish life.
Responsibilities:
- Support the annual campaign: Partner with the Regional Director on all aspects of the annual Houston fundraising campaign and related development efforts.
- Build community relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with Jewish Federations, JCCs, synagogues, community leaders, donors, and other key partners throughout Houston.
- Drive fundraising and donor engagement: Help lead local fundraising initiatives and events, including Day of Giving and Cow Sweepstakes, while engaging donors through compelling NCSY stories, program experiences, club presentations, and other opportunities to connect with the mission.
- Cultivate and steward donors: Maintain meaningful, ongoing relationships with existing donors while identifying, researching, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding new prospects.
- Collaborate on regional development: Work closely with regional leadership on donor meetings, grant reporting, community campaigns, and other development initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
- Prior fundraising experience, either professionally or as a volunteer.
- Ability to build meaningful relationships and community connections across diverse constituencies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, organize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated passion for NCSY's mission and a commitment to the Jewish community and the future of Jewish life.
