Job Overview:

The assistant broadcast engineer works closely with the EIC and other engineers to ensure that all aspects of television broadcasts are technically sound, including cameras, studios, interconnections, and broadcast control rooms. Position services both in-venue and network television broadcasts. Some travel may be required to setup remote studio locations. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Essential Functions:

• Setup and teardown of all broadcast equipment when moving between tracks
• Assists parking trailers when moving to a new site
• Assists with connecting infrastructure after a move including, cabling, wires, etc.
• Tests out fiberoptic connections
• Helps build cameras when necessary
• Assists with any camera issues
• Assists with multiviewer setup, changes and troubleshooting
• Responsible for maintaining cable cam systems, including setup, teardown and troubleshooting
• Setup remote robotic cameras
• Assists with wireless video and audio signals
• Assists with transmission checks and troubleshoots transmission issues
• Responsible for generating reports on broken equipment and tracks progress of repair
• Assists with general maintenance of mobile broadcast units
• Assists audio engineering team when needed
• Maintaining fiber and copper cables

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of fiberoptic systems
• Knowledge of mechanical systems
• Able to diagnose camera issues
• Understand signal flow
• Basic IP knowledge
• Understands routing, switching and multiviewer systems
• Knowledge of land-based RF systems
• CDL
• High school or equivalent diploma
