Library Student Assistant

Serve as an undergraduate student assistant in the Pace Zine Library (PZL)

The Pace University Zine Library is seeking to hire two work-study students to participate in staffing the PZL for regular hours each week; promoting the collection on social media, on campus, and in the NYC community; and cataloging new materials in our spreadsheet. This is an opportunity for students interested in library science, archives, and/or marketing to learn experientially about the day-to-day operations of running a small academic library or special collection. They will help develop the collection, as well.

Responsibilities will include many applied research activities:

Be present in PZL for weekly, scheduled hours (to be determined based on student’s schedule) to introduce visitors to the library's holdings and features.

Strengthen the PZL social media by creating research-based Instagram stories, reels, and posts and possibly experiment with TikTok.

Catalog new additions to the PZL (we will provide training)

Requirements
Successful applicants will have these skills and dispositions:

Must be Work Study eligible

Enthusiasm and curiosity about the world of zines and other independent, micro, and self-publications

Carefulness (handling materials), self-motivation, and excitement to work closely with library staff and faculty

Excellent, prompt email and outstanding verbal communication skills are essential

Experience with social media storytelling, particularly on Instagram, is a plus
