HR Compliance & Payroll Specialist
Ridgewood, NY | $120K | Full-Time
A growing real estate law firm is seeking an experienced HR Compliance & Payroll Specialist to oversee payroll administration, HR operations, and compliance functions. This is a key role responsible for ensuring accurate payroll processing, maintaining employee records, supporting HR initiatives, and ensuring compliance with all applicable employment laws and company policies.
Responsibilities:
• Process payroll accurately and on schedule for all employees
• Maintain employee records, HR documentation, and personnel files
• Oversee onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle processes
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
• Manage timekeeping, attendance, and leave tracking
• Assist with benefits administration, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and HR compliance audits
• Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, and HR policies
• Update employee handbooks, policies, and compliance procedures
• Prepare payroll reports and maintain accurate HR records
Qualifications:
• 2+ years of experience in HR, payroll, or compliance required
• Strong knowledge of payroll processing, HR administration, and employment laws
• Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms preferred
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• High level of discretion when handling confidential information
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Experience in a law firm or professional services environment is a plus
