Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated Sign Graphic Designer who can take conceptual ideas and create production ready visual representations, both in print and electronic media.
Our ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of current design software and skilled with every step of the design process from concept to the final deliverable. Collaborating with multiple teams at our company, the Sign Graphic Designer should be able to take directions from written or spoken ideas and convert them into a design that connects.
The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of material application, selects appropriate substrates, finishes, illumination methods, and mounting approaches based on durability, availability, cost, finish quality, structural needs, and project requirements. Sign industry experience will be required along with CorelDraw experience as it is the main software use in the design department.

Duties and Expectations:
Timeline Ownership:
Manages priorities, follows up on dependencies, reprioritizes as needed, and meets or exceeds deadlines.
Proactive Communication:
Surfaces missing information, risks, scope changes, and timeline impacts early to keep work moving.
Technical Design Execution:
Applies layout, proportion, hierarchy, spacing, typography, contrast, sightlines, and legibility principles to create clear, buildable sign solutions.
Work independently and cooperatively on multiple projects with various internal and external teams, meeting deadlines and budget constraints, and scheduling project implementation based on workload.
Brand & Color Accuracy:
Maintains brand integrity through correct logo use, color matching, PMS/paint/vinyl callouts, finish selections, and illuminated color considerations. Update and maintain internal databases of designs.
Vector Engine Expertise (Core Vector Graphics):
Mastery of software like CorelDRAW or Adobe Illustrator is mandatory. Designers must use these tools not just for layout, but for strict vector hygiene—managing complex layering systems, manipulating Bezier curves with precision, overlapping paths effectively, and executing flawless path-finding operations.
Master Manipulation & Photo-Simulation:
Advanced skills in Adobe Photoshop to seamlessly blend 3D sign vectors into flat site photos. This involves adjusting perspective grid matching, manipulating complex lighting/shadow layers, and creating highly realistic simulations of nighttime illumination, neon glows, and physical material textures.
Buildable Details:
Incorporates depth, returns, reveals, illumination zones, mounting conditions, material transitions, installation constraints, and service access into design decisions. Be able to read and understand architectural drawings.
Dimensioning & Scale:
Uses accurate measurements, scale relationships, overall dimensions, material yield awareness, and viewing-distance requirements to support production-ready drawings.
Collaborative Problem Solving:
Partners with internal teams to resolve design, material, fabrication, installation, or customer concerns quickly and professionally.
Utilizes emerging trends in AI to reduce process timelines and augment quality of deliverables
Education, Experience, and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field preferred
5+ years’ relatable experience as a Graphic Designer in the sign industry desired
Understanding of the various types of sign and fabrication methods, critical for design effectiveness is required
Proficiency with CorelDraw is required.
Experienced in Adobe Illustrator is a plus
Demonstrate graphic design skills with a strong portfolio including technical fabrication drawings.
A strong eye for visual composition
Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
Able to give and receive constructive criticism.
Understanding of marketing and corporate identity
Knowledge of materials, fabrication methods as well as installation processes preferred.
Experience with computer-aided design
