The Opportunity

At Definity, you’ll be part of a dynamic and rapidly growing organization. In the past year alone, we successfully completed nine strategic acquisitions, and this year, we made history with one of the largest property and casualty (P&C) acquisitions the industry has ever seen. Our continued growth and bold vision make Definity an exciting place to advance your career and make a meaningful impact.

What to Expect

Work at the center of strategic growth: Partner with a highly acquisitive Corporate Development team and collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Investor Relations, Capital Management, and Legal
Drive real impact: Support Definity’s inorganic growth strategy across carriers, brokers, and new vertical markets
End-to-end deal exposure: Contribute across the transaction lifecycle, including deal sourcing, due diligence, financial modeling, investment materials, and integration support
Market insights: Track industry trends and maintain benchmarking tools to support executive decision-making
Strategic analysis: Deliver insights through credit analysis, KPI reporting, and ad hoc requests from senior leadership
Join a market leader: Definity completed 10+ acquisitions last year, including one of the largest P&C transactions in the industry

Corporate Development Responsibilities

Evaluate potential acquisition targets and strategic initiatives for fit, risk, and value creation
Build and maintain complex financial models, including valuation, synergy analysis, and accretion/dilution
Support execution of acquisitions, financings, and divestitures across structuring, diligence, documentation, and integration
Monitor Canadian P&C industry trends; develop and maintain benchmarking databases and presentations
Perform credit analysis and covenant monitoring for broker investments
Support broader corporate initiatives and strategic projects as required

What you Bring

1-3 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related fields; experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or strategy preferred
Experience in financial services (insurance is an asset)
Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering, or a related field with strong academic performance
Progress toward or completion of a CPA, CFA, or CBV designation
Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills with strong attention to detail
Strong presentation and communication skills, with proficiency in PowerPoint
Solid understanding of financial accounting and the impact of business decisions on financial statements
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively across all levels, including senior executives
Experience with S&P Capital IQ and/or MSA is an asset
Flexibility to accommodate the demands of a transaction-driven environment

Salary Range: $ 59,300-$109,200

High degree of proficiency with English required to service customers, both internal to the company and external, across Canada.

Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market.

This position is being posted to fill an existing vacancy.

Interested in this role, but don’t meet every requirement? We encourage you to apply! We know from experience that a candidate doesn’t need 100% of the qualifications listed to bring incredible value to our team. We’re actively seeking diverse backgrounds and perspectives to help us make insurance better. At Definity, inclusion, diversity, and equity aren’t just “nice to have” — they’re essential to our success.
