The Brooklyn Hospital Center is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and mission-driven academic physician to lead a longstanding residency program within a vibrant urban academic medical center committed to excellence in patient care, medical education, and community health.

Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Medicine and working closely with the Designated Institutional Official (DIO), the Program Director will provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the residency program. The successful candidate will build and lead a high-performing team, provide clear direction and guidance, and contribute to a multidisciplinary environment that values excellence, accountability, and innovation. You will foster a supportive learning environment where residents thrive, faculty are engaged, and scholarship, professionalism, and inclusion are embedded in the program's culture.
Responsibilities
Lead resident recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retention efforts
Direct curriculum development and ensure excellence in patient-centered medical education
Oversee resident supervision, evaluation, promotion, remediation, and disciplinary actions in accordance with ACGME standards
Foster scholarly activity, research, and professional development among residents and faculty
Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and effective learning environment across all teaching sites
Ensure ongoing compliance with ACGME accreditation requirements and institutional policies
Drive initiatives that advance medical education and support the needs of our patient population
Collaborate with departmental, institutional, and interdisciplinary leaders to advance the residency program and strengthen its reputation within the academic medical community
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited medical school
Current New York State medical license or eligibility for licensure
Board Certification in Internal Medicine
Minimum of 5 years of Graduate Medical Education leadership experience
Strong management skills with the ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute effectively
Exceptional leadership, mentoring, teaching, and interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented, performance-driven healthcare system
Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout program leadership
Compensation range from 275K to 325K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, historical collections, and hospital/community need. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range. The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits.
