Engagement and Youth Coordinator

Position Summary
With the support of a recent grant from USCJ, we are able to increase our programmatic offerings, services, and retreats outside of our building through an HEA on the Road initiative.

We are hiring a full-time Engagement & Youth Coordinator who supports and staffs programming for the HEA community under the supervision of our Engagement Director. The Engagement & Youth Coordinator will also oversee our youth group programs and leadership board. This position includes daytime programs, weekend work, and occasional overnight/weekend retreats.

The scope of work of the Engagement & Youth Coordinator includes the following key areas:

Planning & Supporting Engagement Programs

Plans and schedules activities for programs in partnership with the Engagement Director and participating Clergy.
Identifies locations and vendors for Jewish centric activities, pop-up programs, retreats, and trips outside of HEA in conjunction with the Engagement director.
Purchases and prepares supplies for engagement programs.
Staffs engagement programs as well as other HEA events as needed (e.g., High Holidays, Congregational BBQ, and other community programs).
Communicate with and support program participants prior to and as post programs.
Follow up with participants after programs to solicit feedback about their experience and invite them to future programs.

Youth Advisor for Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers

Visions, develops, promotes, and implements programming for youth groups (Kadima and USY) that is balanced in educational, religious, social action, and engagement content.
Creates a calendar of events including such elements as “hangouts,” volunteer opportunities, leadership experiences, and learning series in partnership with the youth group board.
Coaches teens on program planning and implementation, outreach/marketing, experiential Jewish education, and leading peers.
Plans and coordinates teen participation in USY programs in our Bamidbar Region USY chapter as well as in HEA-wide community programs (e.g., Purim Carnival, Youth Led Shabbat, Yom HaShoah, and teen programming for High Holidays).
Fosters meaningful relationships as a mentor to youth and teens in the HEA community and beyond, including potential youth group members.
Defines the roles and responsibilities of our youth group board, including overseeing the recruitment, selection, training, and retaining of youth leaders.
Facilitates and oversees the teen board, including monthly meetings and one-on-ones.
Staffs and supports Jewish educational programs for teens as needed (e.g., Mensch Academy)
Manages the youth budget and finances.
Communicates (e.g., via email, text, and phone calls) with families and teens about upcoming programming.

Collaboration with HEA Staff Team

Attend weekly staff meetings and periodic staff training.
Staffs and supports young family programs at HEA as needed (e.g., Tot Shabbat, Shabbat Along Friday service and dinner) in rotation with other Education and Engagement staff.
Works closely with HEA’s Engagement Director, Education Director, Preschool Directors, and Clergy on programs. Coordinates with the HEA Communications team on marketing, including social media content and strategy.

External Relations

Builds and develops relationships with community members and HEA parents, children, and other family members.
Represents HEA at USCJ/USY trainings and regional programs, builds relationships, and collaborations with other USY staff and chapters, Denver teen program staff, Israeli Shlichim, Jewish camp professionals, and other local partners.
Represents HEA at community-wide programs (e.g., Havdalah at the Butterfly Pavillion, Walk for Israel).
Partners with volunteers as well as staff to ensure the programmatic excellence and inclusivity of programs.

Position Qualifications and Expectations:
Understanding of Jewish rituals, customs, holidays, and congregational relationship building. Must be courteous, responsive, discreet, and flexible.
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
Experience working with children and teens in a camp, synagogue, or educational setting a plus.
Strong ability to develop and implement experiential programs with an emphasis on community building and joyful Judaism.
Be a lifelong learner and outstanding role model who appreciates diversity in thought, heritage, and Jewish practice.
Demonstrate passion for Jewish engagement and education.
Willingness to travel outside of Denver on day and overnight trips.
Strong communicator and comfortable with technology.
